The 691 acres of park land offers some of the most beautiful inland scenery in the state. Visitors enjoy camping, hiking, picnicking, wildlife viewing, nature photography, swimming, boating and fishing on and around the 10-mile square lake.

Located in an area famous for trout and landlocked salmon fishing, the park offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the state in this region of mountains and lakes. Visitors enjoy the fragrant spruce and fir trees within the campground and along the hiking trails. A major snowmobile trail is maintained into the park by the town of Rangeley and connects to local trails as well as to ITS 89.

Visitors will find well-spaced campsites among the fragrant spruce and fir trees, hot showers and a concrete boat launching ramp with floats. The Western Maine Mountains Region, known for its spectacular four seasons, sees average daytime winter temperatures ranging 10 - 14 degrees Fahrenheit (-12 to -10 Celsius) in the northern area and an average of 14 -18 degrees Fahrenheit (-10 to -8 Celsius) in the southern area. Summer unfolds for outdoors enthusiasts with temperatures in the northern area averaging 66 degrees Fahrenheit (19 Celsius) and in the southern area averaging 68 (20 Celsius). Western Maine Mountains Region experiences a wide range of precipitation. From north to south, the area receives an average of less than 38 inches (97 centimeters) to more than 44 inches of precipitation each year. Summer rainfall averages 3 - 5 inches per month.
