Fort Yargo State Park offers a unique camping and fishing experience for families. This 1,814 acre historical park features one of four log forts built in 1792 by settlers for protection against Creek and Cherokee Indians.

The park offers 47 tent, trailer, RV campsites, three cottages, 116 picnic tables, five picnic shelters, and two group picnic shelters. Visitors will enjoy a 260 acre lake with a beach, a miniature golf course, tennis courts, and an interpretive center. Within the park is Will-A-Way Recreation Area, an accessible facility specifically designed for challenged populations, with a 250 capacity group camp, food service facilities, picnic and fishing areas, a playground, and trails.

Many recreational activities exist at Fort Yargo State Park. Visitors can hike, bike, fish, rent canoes, and pedal boats, picnic, camp, play tennis and golf, and swim in a 260 acre lake. The Will-A-Way Recreation Area offers many activities for challenged populations such as camping, picnicking, hiking, and fishing.

Georgia generally experiences mild, comfortable winters and warm to hot, humid summers. The area can offer a relatively warm escape for snow-free outdoor recreation during the winter months. Be prepared for occasional cold weather during the winter, especially at the higher elevations in northern Georgia.
