Elijah Clark State Park comprises 447 acres and is named for a frontiersman and Georgia war hero who led hardy pioneers during the Revolutionary War. A renovated and furnished log cabin museum displays furniture, utensils, and tools circa 1780. Campers will enjoy the 165 tent, trailer, and RV sites, six picnic shelters, or 20 lakefront cottages. Fishermen will especially enjoy the park's location on Clarks Hill Lake. The park boasts a white sand swimming beach, a miniature golf course, and playground. Hikers will find nature trails to explore.

Elijah Clark State Park offers camping, hiking, picnicking, fishing, and boating. Visitors should take advantage of the numerous boating and fishing activities. There are four boat ramps available and water skiing is permitted. The log cabin museum offers a colonial life demonstrations and weekend tours.

Georgia generally experiences mild, comfortable winters and warm to hot, humid summers. The area can offer a relatively warm escape for snow-free outdoor recreation during the winter months. Be prepared for occasional cold weather during the winter, especially at the higher elevations in northern Georgia.
