This site is located at an elevation of 8,600 feet in the southeastern corner of South Park, a large natural mountain park in central Colorado. The focus of the park is 3,400-acre Eleven Mile Reservoir, one of the largest reservoirs in Colorado. The nearby Front Range and interesting rock formations provide spectacular scenery for individuals enjoying the reservoir. Eleven Mile State Park is open year-round with 350 campsites for overnight accommodations.Eleven Mile Reservoir is known for its excellent fishing. Rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout, kokanee salmon, northern pike and carp are all found within the waters of Eleven Mile. Power boating, sailboating, and windsurfing are also very popular during the summer and fall months. Two boat ramps are available on the shores of the reservoir. A multitude of camping and picnicking sites are available around the lake.
Climate conditions in Colorado should be taken seriously throughout the state. Snow and ice are common on roads and trails from mid-October through late April. In the summer months, snow is still possible but less common. Varying conditions throughout a given day can be expected throughout the year. Remember that summer days can typically have beautiful sunny mornings and short sudden thunderstorms in the afternoon. Please prepare appropriately for your outdoor experience.
