Fool Hollow Lake offers a multitude of diverse attractions. Along the 149-acre lake are 100-foot pine trees and great blue herons. Show Low Creek flows into Fool Hollow Lake, providing a natural feeding ground for a variety of wildlife and a diverse fishery. Fishing opportunities are abundant with rainbow trout, large and small mouth bass, black crappie, green sunfish, channel catfish and walleye are all present in the lake. Catchable sized rainbow trout are stocked by the Arizona Game and Fish Department mid-May through through September.The nearby White Mountain Trail System offers eleven loop trails with over 103 miles of hiking in the adjacent Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. Additional facilities include 123 campsites for tents or with hookups, a dump station, a fish cleaning station, boat ramps, picnic tables, grills, private showers, restrooms, a playground and a 150 acre lake. Showers and restrooms are handicapped accessible. Boat motors are limited to 8 horsepower.
Visitors can enjoy year-round camping, fishing, picnicking, boating and wildlife viewing opportunities.
The climate of Arizona varies greatly with elevation. Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area has an elevation of approximately 6,300 ft. and therefore experiences much more mild summer temperatures than the lower elevations. Expect afternoon thunderstorms, especially in July and August. Daytime high temperatures can exceed 90 degrees. Be prepared for snow and cold winter temperatures at higher elevations and dress in layers for your travels in this state of varying climates.
