Yahoo! Travel searches are heating up in advance of summer vacation season, and it's no surprise that beaches and kid-oriented destinations are among the most-searched locales.

So how do travelers decide where to go on their much-anticipated summer vacations? According to a recent Yahoo! Travel survey about 2007 summer travel trends, 50 percent of those planning to take a summer trip said that budget is the biggest influence when determining their destination. Of the more than 2,300 adults polled, a whopping 78 percent planned on taking a summer vacation. And travelers love seeking out new thrills, with 87 percent of respondents saying that they'd like to go on vacation to someplace they've never been before.
And don't feel bad if you haven't started making plans yet. Seventy-nine percent of those who plan on taking a summer break have yet to finalize their vacation plans, and nearly half have not even decided where to go yet.
About the Yahoo! Travel Summer Survey
The survey was conducted by Harris Interactive. Data was collected from 2,373 adults in the United States using an online survey during April 2007. Forty-four percent of the respondents were male and 64 percent were female.
