Really High Standards
By giovanni, 11/04/08
I was staying here with my airline crew and we all found it lovely. Definately the best Hilton we use. Staff are all lovely and welcoming, our rooms were immaculately clean and presented, beds are amazing. Prices in restaurants and bars are ok by 5 star standards. I look forward to returning in November. Location great for concerts, but Houston Downtown has very limited shopping, so be prepared to travel to the suburbs.

Good location for a sports fan
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/20/08
Very good location, for a sports fan or if you are going to a convention. The were overbooked the first night, but I got a Ok room for 50% off.

So not worth the time, effort, or money
By MelissaS, 03/27/08
First of all you have to pay 15.00 a day to park, Nobody greets you with a smile, the walls are paper thin so you hear everything from the hallways and the rooms next to you. When you call in the middle of the night to complain they blow you off. I expressed my unhappiness to the check out girl and all I got was a card with a number to call. I called and spoke to the manager who says that he will send me a free nights stay with the possible upgrade, however I can only use it at that hotel. Like I want to come back. Here's the kicker, it's been 2 months and I haven't heard anything back from them. Ohh if you want the internet you have to pay for that too. For all the money they charge we shouldn't have to pay for parking or the internet.

Reservations and room requests
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/07/07
I placed my reservation for a special event during Sept. 2007, and requested a smoking room, and there were options to select a smoking or non-smoking room. I was told that, at that time, there were no smoking rooms available, but there could be cancellations. Two days later, I called with my confirmation number and told I was "Confirmed" for a smoking room. Not sure at this point, I called the following day, at a different time of day, and was told there were no smoking rooms available, and perhaps this is a non smoking hotel, and a balcony room would be requested, if available. This really concerned me, so I called the hotel main number again this time selected an operatior instead of reservations. I asked the operator if the Hilton Americas is a non-smoking hotel, and the response was YES! I feel that there is definitely a communication problem with the staff and the prospective clients. I cannot reply to much of the star options, since the date has not yet arrived.

No Free Amenities
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/31/07
Hotel is very beautiful. Loved the table made of granite in the room. I did not like that there were no free guest amenities,e.g.: 1. Parking was not free-$12 per day if you self parked. 2. No microwaves in room-fee charged if one requested. 3.Charge for internet service. I had a wheelchair accessible room, but, the room did not have enough space for a custom power wheelchair to turn. Roll in shower was adequate, but, there still wasn't enough room for the power chair to turn in the bathroom. Apparently, only the minimum requirements for ADA were followed.

We were not comfortable!
By edgar m, 07/12/07
Room service did not change our sheets after our new born, 2 months had an accident in the middle of the night. Room extremely dirty and room service for standard operations weren't up to par. Alarm Clock was put in our room the same time sheets were overlooked. Wake up call at 6am ended up being at 7am? Missed an important meeting because the wake up call was not on time. For the money i would rather stay where you are appreciated a little better

Skyline Bar & Grill is Great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/27/06
My husband and I celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary, my 60th birthday plus our brother's 46 BD at the Skyline Bar and Grill. Service by Freddy was excellent as was the food. And of course, the view from our wonderful corner, window table was fabulous. What a wonderful surprise that two beautiful desserts were presented wishing us happy anniversary and happy birthdays - Thank You for making these events so special Nancy Hiner

Hidden Treasure
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/20/06
Hilton Americas is located between GRB and Toyota Center. Easy access to Minute Maid and Main Street Happenings. Rooms are spacious and clean. The CAFE RESTRAUNT has cuisines to die for and excellent kids menu. Angus burger and Filet Mignon had me beliving that I was at a fine dining establishment (Cafe is a casual restaurant). My kids talked about the spaghetti during our entire stay. I will recommend to my friends and family. Thanks, Hilton Americas for a memorable occasion.

Everything is Extra!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/06
The Hilton America's Houston is a very nice hotel and is extremely convenient to the George R Brown Convention Ctr and the Toyota Ctr. BUT, be prepared for your bill to grow rapidly, due to the hotel's apparent policy to charge extra for every little feature. This is not an all inclusive type of hotel at all. $9.95 for high speed internet, per day. If you choose to use your dial up connection, it's 55 cents per local call. Room service is not only a $3 delivery charge, but near $6 in an additional service charge. Parking is $12 more a day. Drinks at the little lobby bar (very noisy and not great service), run near $8 per regular drink. So, the hotel has a great potential to be a great value, especially on Priceline, since rooms listed on their website run $160 a night, but Priceline came in near $55 a night, but be prepared to make up alot of the difference in being charged for each extra.

CONVENIENT
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/24/06
VERY CONVENIENT TO THE TOYOTA CENTER. NICELY APPOINTED ROOMS. WONDERFUL BED LINENS. SKYLINE BAR WAS RELAXING WITH A LOVELY VIEW. THE BISQUE IS OVERRATED AND THE SALMON APPETIZER WAS YUCKY. WEAK DRINKS. THE CRAB BALLS AND THE SCALLOP APPETIZERS WERE GOOD BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR TWO PEOPLE TO SHARE - SO ORDER YOUR OWN. THIS IS A CONFERENCE HOTEL. NOT A BED AND BREAKFAST. ALL OF THE CONFERENCE PEOPLE WERE A BIT LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS.
