Pleasant surprise
After reading some of the prior reviews, I was hesitant to book this hotel, but the Best Western was full and I really wanted a hotel right in Dillsboro. I am so happy it worked out because I could not have been more pleased with the Holiday Inn Express. The location is convenient, easily accessed from the highway and close to downtown for restaurants, shopping, and the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad depot.
The service was pleasant, and the staff members seemed happy and ready to please. The check-in process was easy and the people at the front desk were very helpful in recommending activities to do and good places to eat.
The lobby and guest area on the main floor were both clean and inviting. While walking around later in the evening, we were pleasantly surprised to find that there was an area set up with some complimentary snacks, including warm cookies, pretzels, and chips and cheese. There was also some delicious coffee available at all times, in addition to the coffee makers in each room.
Speaking of the rooms, they were great. Don't get me wrong, it's no 5-star hotel, but it's as close as you'll get for the price. The rooms are tastefully decorated and incredibly clean. I felt like I was the first person to ever stay in the room. The towels are bigger than the average hotel size, and the shower was pure bliss, with a special fancy shower head. Each room had its own hair dryer, ironing board, large tv, and there is even free wireless internet access. Rooms on the front side do get a bit more road noise, but the view of the mountains more than makes up for it.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there, would stay there again, and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a clean, comfortable, affordable hotel in the Great Smoky Mountain area.
