Dillsboro Weekend
By VickyH, 6/30/08
Was a great location if you plan on a visit to Dillsboro. Just a short drive to downtown Dillsboro. We went on the Railroad trip from Dillsboro.

Great place to stay to visit Maggie Valley and Cherokee
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/16/07
After reading some of the other comments, I was a little apprehensive about staying here. But after we arrived all my worries disappeared. The hotel was easy to find and was about 10 mins from Cherokee and 20 mins from Maggie Valley. We stayed in two of the queen suites and they were both very clean. There were children ranging in ages from 8 months to 14 years old and adults staying in the rooms and we all slept great. The continental breakfast was good and the other reviewers were right in saying the cinammon rolls were excellent. The heated indoor pool was a nice addition. The only suggestions that I have for the hotel is to change the time for the indoor pool. Most people don't get back from their outings until 8 or 9 pm and the pool closes at 10pm. I think they should change the time to at least 11pm since I dont think noise is an issue for the other guests. The other is to increase the breakfast time to 10am. The chlorine in the pool was pretty strong on Sunday night, don't know if that is when they add more chemicals or not but it caused our eyes to water. I suggest better ventilation or something better circulate the air. I want to especially thank Tina, manager and Anna H. for all their help with my bill. Apparently booking online for a room is not the best route to go. When I was checking out, I discovered the price I was quoted on the internet was much higher. Thankfully I had a printout and the front desk staff corrected everything for me. They were very helpful and courteous the entire time we were there. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel in the future. Janette

Near the Great Smokey Mountains
By Mark525, 4/23/07
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I was here for business and the location near the Smokey Mountain Expressway was great. It's also near Cherokee and the Great Smokey Mts. National Park (which is one of Americas greatest national treasures). I had no problems with check-in, the staff or my accomodations -- in fact my room was very clean and spacious. Although rooms on the other side had a greater view of the mountains. I was not impressed with the free continental breakfast -- all starches and sugar. The town of Dillsboro is nearby and has a great little town atmosphere with shops, restaurants and the train station. I would recommend this hotel if you needed to be in this area and would stay here again.

Loved it!
By Kristy, 2/9/07
This is as high class a hotel as you can get in the area. Our room was huge and it had a hot tub in it. The staff was very responsive. We're going back and we are looking forward to it.

Pleasant surprise
By Allison, 10/29/06
After reading some of the prior reviews, I was hesitant to book this hotel, but the Best Western was full and I really wanted a hotel right in Dillsboro. I am so happy it worked out because I could not have been more pleased with the Holiday Inn Express. The location is convenient, easily accessed from the highway and close to downtown for restaurants, shopping, and the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad depot. The service was pleasant, and the staff members seemed happy and ready to please. The check-in process was easy and the people at the front desk were very helpful in recommending activities to do and good places to eat. The lobby and guest area on the main floor were both clean and inviting. While walking around later in the evening, we were pleasantly surprised to find that there was an area set up with some complimentary snacks, including warm cookies, pretzels, and chips and cheese. There was also some delicious coffee available at all times, in addition to the coffee makers in each room. Speaking of the rooms, they were great. Don't get me wrong, it's no 5-star hotel, but it's as close as you'll get for the price. The rooms are tastefully decorated and incredibly clean. I felt like I was the first person to ever stay in the room. The towels are bigger than the average hotel size, and the shower was pure bliss, with a special fancy shower head. Each room had its own hair dryer, ironing board, large tv, and there is even free wireless internet access. Rooms on the front side do get a bit more road noise, but the view of the mountains more than makes up for it. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there, would stay there again, and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a clean, comfortable, affordable hotel in the Great Smoky Mountain area.

If you enjoy cold water and poor service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/27/05
The hotel was a disaster. They missed our wake up call, they checked us in to 3 dirty rooms. There were huge cockroached on the floor of the eating area that they charged 129.00 a night

Great Hotel
By bigal, 6/19/05
On our tubing trip to Bryson City last summer (2004) we stayed here. It was a great deal for the price and the folks running it were very nice and helpful. Lots of places to eat in the area and a Super Wal Mart nearby. The Ryans was especially good in this area. Pool was great and the hottub was perfect.

A great base for activities.
By Brian, 6/10/05
The Holiday Inn Express in Dillsboro proved to be a great choice for our 4 night trip to the Smoky Mountain Region. It was almost exactly in the middle of the kayaking, hiking, and (for my son) skateboarding activities we planned. The hotel was very clean. The complimentary continental breakfast was very good and really added to the execeptional value of this hotel. The pool area was fair sized and clean. My only complaint was that the hot tub didn't seem very hot my last night. All in all we had a wonderful stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone.
