Great location,clean and not too pricey Short walk to Old Rome and Trastevere is very hip.The staff can arrange whatever you need from meals to tours etc.....

Very nice hotel in the heart of Trastavere. Clean, beautiful rooms. Free internet and good breakfast. Only difficulty was driving the narrow, one-way, mostly pedestrian streets and locating the hotel by car. I recommend an alternate mode of travel unless you drive a Smart Car or motorcycle.

Room was great as well as daily breakfast Room should have proper drinking glasses not plastic and a bottle opener Breakfast great and suggestions for eating out were perfect. Would definitly go back

Everything about this pearl of a hotel, very centrally located in the most charming part of Rome, is just top. Atmosphere, staff, rooms, breakfast- what more can you expect! We have certainly found our new favourite hotel when going to Rome. We are coming back soon. Thanks a lot to the excellent staff making our stay so Warm and wonderful in a frozen December 2007- feeling cold even for two Norwegians. We wish you a prosperous New Year. My mother and I stayed here during our visit to Rome on a suggestion from my brother studying abroad there. While I am normally wary of his suggestions, this one turned out to be a gem. The hotel is located in a great area. It's not overly "touristy" rather it offers unique access to Santa Maria square in Trastevere (an area of Rome), a number of great restaurants, shops and easy walking access to public transportation and cabs. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. They book airport transfer service for me. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. I couldn't say enough about how wonderful our experience was here. They provided an excellent breakfast, free internet service, restaurant suggestions and more. The Hotel Santa Maria was not expensive and made our trip truly enjoyable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone headed to Rome looking for something more than your average hotel.

Loved the hotel and the staff. The room was plain bur surprisingly spacious and very clean. Nice shower. The breakfast room was great and breakfast was better and more generous than that of many hotels that charge extra. The evening appetizer buffet in the bar was a pleasant surprise. The staff was very helpful and handled every request perfectly. Trastevere is very convenient. A short walk to the river and across to Campo dei Fiori, the Pantheon, etc. Many restaurants in the immediate area. Would return and recommend.

The service was immaculate, what we needed and wanted was provided for. The location (Trastever) was admittedly at first a bit worrying for the utter, geographic, confusion, but we received a free map and in any case part of the beauty of this picturesque area is it's mish-mash. Getting lost is more thrilling than visiting. Arriving was not a problem as the hotel taxi service picked us up at the airport. The hotel is pleasantly small and cosy, representing all of that Italian friendliness seen on the big screen: Mandarine-tree pavillon, smells from the kitchen, comical italians and the busy ambiance of the piazzas in the distance. Extra services was a pleasant surprise, for example the tours that worked with the hotel were uncommonly good, not at all tourist made. Conclusion, a return trip would undoubtfully lead me back to this hotel.

The front desk and service staff were really good. Taking care of every need. A charming small hotel with a lovely garden and great wine selection was excellent for relaxing after a day of touring. We were within walking distance of everything in Rome. We also loved our own area of Trastevere and the local Piazas! Great service, food, wine and charm in abundance! Would stay there again anytime.
