Santa Maria Hotel, Rome

Loved the courtyard. We ate breakfast, played cards in the evening and met other travelers in the courtyard. The rooms were clean and neat. What more could you want?

We had a WONDERFUL stay at Hotel Santa Maria. The hotel was beautiful and the location was spectacular. It was everything we could have asked for during our 'Rome Getaway'!

Wonderful service from the moment we arrived with great advice on enjoying Rome's attractions and restaurants. Fantastic location in Trastevere within walking distance to attractions and far enough away from the bustling crowds.

I had a fantastic stay. I stayed at Hotel Santa Maria the night before my wedding in the church of Santa Maria in Trastevere and I couldn't have asked for more. The lovely courtyard, beautifully decorated rooms, homey restaurant, friendly and flexible staff, and the great location made my stay just perfect. My family and I rented 4 rooms and everyone loved it. Even my hairdresser, make-up artist, driver, and some friends, who did not stay in the hotel but saw my room and the courtyard, said that it was a super cute hotel with a great location. I have to add that although it looks simple and homey, this hotel has all the amenities you need.

The Hotel Santa Maria, is a lovely hotel in Trastevere. I had to practice saying that one. According to Rick Steve’s tras (across) Tevere (the Tiber) (trahs-TAY-veh-ray). It is a little oasis of calm and relaxation in a busy city. There is a small orange grove patio area in the center of the hotel, which all of the rooms face. People enjoyed this shaded area throughout the day, often sharing with one another that day’s adventures. The rooms were tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. The staff was very courteous and extremely helpful. The breakfasts, included in the price, were wonderfully delicious. Trastevere is a fun area to stay in, but about 30 minute walk away from most of the tourist sites.

The Hotel Santa Maria helped us get the most out of our stay in Rome. We were welcomed with complimentary champagne and snacks to celebrate our honeymoon and treated like family. Every restaurant recommended by the staff was perfect, and we had no need to stray from the Trastevere neighborhood for meals. Excellent location and staff made this a perfect find for us. We look forward to returning someday!

This hotel is a gem in an eclectic area, close to a great people watching piazza, with a gorgeous church and great tratorrias. The hotel is gated and very clean and has a beautiful garden sitting/dinning area. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable, and the hotel offers great breakfasts and appetizer/bar service. Highly recommended!

A lovely little hotel in the centre of Trastevere, within walking distance from the historic places. The comfortable room and bathroom, the wonderful garden with the orange trees, the quiet location, the excellent breakfast and the warm, friendly and helpful staff makes this the best place to stay in Rome. The neighbourhood is full of good restaurants with moderate prices, you don't have to go to the historic centre for a meal. If we go back to Rome again (and I really hope so), we will definitely stay in Hotel Santa Maria. We will also recommend the charming hotel to our friends.

This small hotel in Trastevere (in our opinion, the best neighborhood in Rome in which to stay) combines the best of hotel and B&B experiences: Intimate, quiet, friendly and very knowledgeable staff, excellent breakfasts, modern amenities, and full service. The hotel is surrounded by good and moderately priced restaurants and is located within walking distance of all of Rome's major and minor attractions. We have stayed in hotels and B&B's in many places in the US and Europe and the Hotel Santa Maria di Trastevere ranks at or near the top of our list of places to stay.

Just returned from a three night stay Rooms were very comfortable, staff very friendly, and the location was perfect for our requirements Although it is in the middle of Trastevere with lots of bars and restaurants, the location of the hotel is a haven of peace
