Central, Friendly, Good Value, Free Wi-Fi
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/19/10
Liked the location, the free wi-fi and the helpfulness of everyone working there. The tea / toast for breakfast was a plus. Quiet, old part of town only 5 min. walk from centre. Tour to the Cliffs of Moher was great

Great value & friendly too
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/09
Loved the location in an old part of town. In a nice quiet laneway. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Double en Suite room we had was excellent value for money too. Will use Kinlay Cork again if I get back to Cork - a great little city!!!

Never in our lifetime or dead agian.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/11/08
We didn't find anything that was OK. The room looked like a jail. The bathrooms were dirty or broken (and nobody told us ). The light was poor. And the staff was distant. We spent two weeks arround Ireland and we loved it all. Except Cork and aspecialy Kinlay House. What a dump.

Would happily return...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/08
I liked Kinlay House. It's location is very good. We stayed in an en Suite Private and it is as good as a Hotel or B&B I feel. Handy that you get a free breakfast. Liked the little garden at the back and the big Sycamore Tree out the front. The Graffitti is also interesting on steps up to hostel. Only problem we found is that they don't have enough en Suite privates really!! Good staff

State of the shower/bathroom
By mike, 12/13/06
Should have seen the state of the bathroom/shower toilets totally grose. Other that that fine staff were nice and the room fine for the price

Disappointing Stay, we left early
By ColleenL, 10/30/06
Well first I should say that we left early also because Cork was so dissappointing, but we had no desire to stay in Kinlay Hostel for a second night. Although we booked online, when we arrived they asked us to pay again. Luckily, we avoided being charged twice. Then we were told where our room was- although we paid the rate for a private double room, we were put into a 14-bed dorm. The code for the door didn't work so the room was left unlocked with no place to store valuables. When we got inside, there was someone in one of our beds and an extra cot on the floor. The room smelled a little funky as well, which is to be expected when you pack that many people into a small space. While trying to sleep, there were two other people consistently snoring all night, which I know is not the fault of the hostel, but it just added to our overall experience. The next morning, we tried to shower after the rough night, to find out that the co-ed showers sure are hot, in fact so hot that the water is scalding. Neither of us could stand it long enough to actually get clean. I wet out to find a different shower, wandering through the most confusing building I have ever been in in my towel, but to no avail. When we asked to check out early, they somehow didn't seem surprised...

What a disappointment
By Kelly, 9/11/06
We were welcomed by a condesencing receptionist who you'd swear we were putting out just by being there. Later, discovered that the bathrooms were not clean (and not properly stocked with TP), the breakfast was awful (again, not one could be bothered to restock on items). Discovered security was slack to say the least with no one even bothering to check who we were when we came in at night and even offering us another key to our room. At €24.00/ night don't bother, go somewhere else and enjoy your holiday.
