Disappointed Golfers
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/24/10
I had the good fortune to play The Bluffs 3 weeks after it opened, many years ago. New but impressive. Went back 3 years later. OUTSTANDING. Now, played the course August 22, 2010; very, very disappointing. Fairways were not cut, or if they were, it was about 1 inch. Greens overrun with St. Augustine, and many bare patches. I am a 9 hdcp and my wife is 20 hdcp. Not worlds best golfers, but want to play on a nice track. This is not it. Luckily we got "twilight" rate of $44 each, or we would have quit after 1st hole. The layout is still one of the best I have played, and if it ever regains it's conditioning, we will go back again. Unfortunately, right now, it is a $20 course, not $72 full rate or $44 twilight.
One other thing I will mention, the "pro" told us that the course was in "great" shape, but the greens had been punched a month ago so were still a little spotty. What I saw had nothing to do with aeration. Pro's are are supposed to know the difference. So if you want to know the shape of the course, don't call and ask them, they do not know, or won't tell you the truth.
