Embassy Suites Chicago - Downtown, Chicago

My wife and I stayed at the downtown Chicago Embassy Suites for 3 nights in September of 2011. I cannot wait to go back. We arrived at the hotel at 9:30 on Monday morning. Although check-in is not until 3:00 PM, we were told that we could have a room immediately! We inquired about its location and added that we would prefer a room in a quiet location on an upper floor. We were told that there would be a room available later on the eighth floor. The gentlemen at the desk took my cell phone number and said that he would call when the room was ready. We checked our bags with the bellman and headed out to the Art Institute. While eating lunch at the Art Institute the desk called to let us know that our room was ready. Everything about the room was perfect. Of course it was a suite so it was 2 rooms. Two rooms, non-smoking, King bed, quiet, vey clean, roomy! As I said before it was perfect! And this was before the complimentarty breakfast (made-to-order omelettes) each morning and the complimentary Manager's reception (wine, bloody marys, margaritas) each evening. The service that we received was first rate (even though we received an excelent rate from one of the discount websites). The doorman even welcomes you home each time you enter the hotel. The location is convenient to everything downtown. We walked to restaurants and the subway is a short 1 and a half block walk from the hotel. We walked to Navy Pier. Took subway and buses to the Museums. We both agreed that whenever we travel to Chicago again, we will stay at the Embassy Suites, downtown. Thank you, Embassy Suites, for making our Chicago getaway unforgetable!

Likes: Conveniently located to MIchigan Ave; rooms were nice with comfortable beds. Breakfast was good. Dislikes: When we checked in at 3 minutes to 3, we were told to come back after 3 as our room wasn't ready. At 3:30, we were finally given an available suite. Pool was small and crowded. Valet parking for $46 a night, they needed more than 2 valets. We waited to unload our car and then waited 30 minutes to get our car after we had to go to the garage to find the valets as they were too busy to answer the phone.

i couldn't believe how they would judge someone for there appearance. I and my girlfriend walked in there and my girlfriend being butch, oh my god it was horrible that they judged us, some rolled there eyes and along with that came whispers and pointed finger, we were told to leave. Hello half or more of Chicago is so gay, get over it people.

My family had a great stay at this hotel. I often choose Embassy Suites because of the large rooms and great breakfast. I was not disappointed. This hotel has a great fitness room. My kids loved the pool. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We were there on Mother's Day and the staff handed out pink carnations to all of the Mothers at breakfast. Very nice!! My only disappointment was having to pay for internet. My daughter brought her laptop, but I just cannot see paying for internet access, so we used the free computers with internet access that they have for their guests down by the pool. That was nice! I still would have liked free wireless access, but I will definitely return here and recommend this hotel to my friends.

The hotel was very nice, great for kids, and the Italian restaurant was incredible. They had amazing pizza, great soup made from scratch, and the service was incredible. The rooms were nice, but nothing special. I just liked that we had a suite. The hot breakfast was a suprise. Our kids liked it, while I ate the oatmeal. We will go back.

It's a good hotel in a good location. Definitely a place to stay if you intend to do the tourist stuff. Everything is withing walking distance including steakhouses, bars and shops. There is a subway/el stop a block away that will get you either to Wrigley Field or the US Cellular. The hotel was a little pricey when we were there but it seems it's not like that all the time. Definitely recommend it if you can find a deal.

Service was great. My room was very clean and comfortable. I truly enjoyed my stay. Walk to Magnificent Mile shopping. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Stayed in a room facing State St., no sleep at all between the traffic and the people in the next room. Really disappointing since I had to run a marathon the next morning with no sleep.

We were promised a discounted rate by this hotel, and they did not honor their promise! The front desk staff was very rude in addition to an unhelpful manager. It ruined our anniversary. The room was subpar, not nicer that any other hotel you would have paid $89.00 a night for. We paid using one credit card and paid for the $40.00 valet using another. One month later, they recharge us for a room that was given as a gift from a friend! Terrible, awful service, not worthy enough to reside on the Magnificent Mile.
