$400.00 for a tiny room $55.00 just to park
By ,
not a friendly check in i felt bad for wasting their time. elevators did not line up with the floors. good luck wheel chair customers. very tiny room and it was a deluxe room. maybe standard room is a broom closet. i would think $400.00 for a room and $55.00 to park. i would think they could have at least tooth paste and and body soap and hair soap in the room. $17.00 to watch an old movie. it was only a place to sleep. not relaxing. if you want any thing here it will cost you dearly. not even free coffee in the morning. we will never stay. again shame them.

We will NEVER stay there again!!!
By ,
My boyfriend and I wanted to visit Chicago for a day to get away, so we made reservations prior using our priority points for a 1 king deluxe room. When we got to the hotel we were told that the only room they had available was an accessible room. Then the girl told us the rooms are first come first served. I didn't use my priority points to stay in an accessible room and neither one of us are handicapped. I could have easily booked at another hotel in the downtown area and used my points there and got a nicer room if they would have contacted me to tell me thats all they had available and were honest.. Then we didn't get any sleep because the walls were paper thin with a family next door that could not control their kids from screaming and slamming doors. We could also hear the people using the toilet and running water. The next morning I talked with another representative about my experience when we checked out and the story he gave us was we checked in to early and that room was the only one available (remind you... we didn't get there till late Saturday night), so how did we check in before 3pm???? That made me think they gave our room to someone else and tried to cover it up.... We were just straight lied to and I am reporting this issue because that was really wrong and not fair for us to use our points on an accessible room....

Do NOT stay here!
By ,
We just returned from a weekend in Chicago. I checked the website for the hotel thoroughly to look for any additional charges that may apply. I knew that there were fees for parking my vehicle, however, what they don't tell you is that the self-parking lot is 3 blocks away! We ended up doing valet parking at $49.00/day. When we arrived, we went to check in and had to put a $100.00 deposit down in case we got into the huge minibar in the room. We were not told this in advance. For two nights it was over $600.00. You would expect for this price that the rooms would be updated and modern. Wrong! There was no dresser in the room, the closet was tiny and the air conditioning unit was ancient! There was a additional chart for everything, even the two bottles of water that were set out for us. A bottle of water was $5.95! The staff were rude and most of them did not speak English very well. When we went to swim, we were asked how long we planned on staying at the pool. Are you kidding? We were registered to have four people in our room, and had to repeatedly ask for more towels, because we were only given two sets at a time. I feel that this was a rip off and I will NEVER stay at any Sheraton ever again. I will definately return to Chicago, but I will be staying elsewhere. Oh, if you do stay here, plan on tipping every employee who speaks to you or answeres questions!

disappointed!
By ,
Beautiful hotel and great location - but way..too much money for New Year's Eve!! I felt taken advantage of by the mark up for one night! I was told that I would have a Play Station in my room, and then found out they had none! I was also told that I could upgrade to the club level and it was not possible when I signed in. I paid extra in advance to get in to my room early - I arrived at the same time as my other family (who did not pay for the early arrival) and they let us both in at the same time!! (12:30) A bottled water is $5.95and they don't offer any kind of continental breakfast. The valet service ruined my tire and rim... and the hotel was quick to say that they have no responsibility over the valet service. There is no hot tub by the pool... The best thing going here is the 'one shot' Starbucks cup of coffee! I would not stay here again.

Never Again
By ,
Let me say this was our first trip to Chicago, just 2 of us.Upon Arrival we were informed they upgraded are room, wow if this was an upgrade I hate to see the other. We were given a Lake View, problem was it was a inside corner room, so the building (how it sticks out)blocked any view to the right & the center was blocked by a bigger building, so yes you could see the lake to the left if you stood at a certain point. The room, bathroom was very small & tub was slow draining so during shower it would fill with water, then wait for next person to shower. We had 2 double beds, while sitting on 1 I looked down to see all along the bottom of the other bed (the skirt around the bed) someone had apparently thrownup ( I kid you not) during their stay & it had since dried & never cleaned, truly unbelievable. I don't think this Hotel is for the normal working class such as myself, I don't consider myself cheap & usually on vacation I will splurge on items so to speak but this Hotel was ridiculous. Bring your own drinks, the room is stocked but it will CO$T you big time. Theres a Walgreens & Store just a block away. Want to use the internet, $12.00 a day. Want to use the Pool, $12.00 a day. Want room service, how about a $16.00 hamburger or a $15.00 dollar waffle. We ate breakfast at the Cafe on lower level, buffet style, food was.....not good, not good at all, price ..$52.00 tip included. We would have like to eat at Shulas, but I can only imagine the price. Frontdoor man was very nice as well as the conceirce person, recommended a Pizza place for us, deliverved to our room late one night, Large Pizza 14", sausage pepporoni, $38.00 plus tip. & it was horrible, give me a frozen Red Baron over this ANYTIME. Actual location of the Hotel is good. Just blocks away from everything, Mag Mile, Shopping, Navy Pier, we even walked to Sears Tower & back from the Theater after seeing Wicked. Both of those were quite a walk for myself but it wasnt to bad. This was our first trip to Chicago, my advice is plan well before going. Know what you want to see & where it is located. Cabs will cost you, they have Buses & Trolleys for much much lesser. We even took the L (Green Line) up to Oak Park to Hemingways birthplace (which is just 4 blocks from where you get off L at Oak Park). Cost us $4 to use L, verses $40 for a cab. Also, everyone said to eat at Bubba Shrimp at Pier...We Did, to me....overpriced, glamourized Long John Silvers...cost $48.00. The waitress was extremely nice though, I like to think she was hitting on me rather than my son...lol. The only food place I can truly recommend was at Benningans on Mich. Ave. , Great Steak & Grilled Chicken...$35.00. Back to the Hotel, like I said it is centrally located which was nice, but I would not stay there again due to pricing $220 a night, overpriced resturaunts, & overpriced amenities which I just assumed were included in the 220...pool, gym, internet etc. I'm willing to pay the $220 or even a little more but I expect alot more at that price. My advice & our next stay will be at the Hyatt, just around te corner & down a couple blocks or most likely Embassy Suites. Embassy is located directly across from Sheraton one open area block. Views of the Lake & City would be just as good, just make sure & specify as I learned later from a Chicago traveler that you want an unobstructed view. They have free Breakfast buffet & a Happy Hour from 530 to 7 for drinks. Like I stated before this was our first trip to Chicago, I expected alot more from the Hotel based on what I read on their site as well as here, I was truly dissapointed. Also, like I said, the prices I quoted were all Total Bill for just the 2 of us. We were there 3 days, 2nights. Also, ask if their having a conference when/if you stay, Hotel was packed with somesort of Conference, which wasnt to bad because most those people were nice, just alot of people.

Just spent a week there
By ,
The housekeeping ladies start quite late, most days hitting our room around 2-3pm. She didn't leave any shampoo/conditioner/soap after the first day. They have Internet access, but it is $11.95 per day. I felt that was outrageous, for the cost of the hotel nightly charge Internet should be included in that price. However just two blocks away at the grocery store called Dominicks there is a Starbucks with FREE wifi. The restaurants within the hotel are outrageouly expensive.

Thin walls, good remedy!
By ,
Our original room was on the 17th floor and we found the walls and door to be paper thin! It was a Friday night and it seemed like we happened to be there with many parties going on (of course it was our anniversary weekend...) Nobody seemed to be excessively loud, yet we could hear every word said and door closed or opened.

boast themselves as a family hotel, HA
By ,
The Sheraton located on North water in Chicago boast as a family hotel however when my children were just being kids the security threatened to ask us to leave. Also before check out the manager informed me that I would have to pay a higher rate for the night we spent there just because the kids (7,8,9) were being too noisy for the gest in the room across the hall. I would not recommend this hotel to any family
