A grand old lady
By Cynthia, 06/11/09
We enjoyed the downtown location and the friendly staff. The Restaurant on site was very good for a nice dinner treat. Rooms are small and the hotel is very old, but that said, it had character. That is a nice change from the blah chains. Would very much enjoy staying there again.

Very Nice

We stayed 2 nights. Very clean and just what i expected for a historic hotel. Parking could have been better, but a little stroll down downtown never hurts anyone.

Black mold :wont be coming back
By Monique, 07/09/08
We reserved a non-smoking king size bed room. We got a smoking room with a queen sized bed. The room had a stale stench to it, when I attempted to open the window, which had a plastic covering over it so you could not see outside, the screen was torn apart. The reason the plastic was over the wide was to hide the huge electrical equipment adjacent to the room. Last, but certainly not least, the interior shower curtain was covered in black mold, totally disgusting, yuck! When I brought this to front desks attention, they said sorry. Did not try to right the wrong situation.

You should definitely stay here if you happen to be in Cheyenne!
By Tabitha, 05/22/08
This hotel is adorable! I walked in and was greeted by a friendly staff that was the personification of "the west!" The big open lobby has this tile floor and I could have sworn I could still hear ragtime piano music bouncing off of it. The room was comfortable, just right for me and my friends but the atmosphere was right on. We were looking for a place to really feel that western vibe - and this is it! I will definitely be going back.

Historic Cheyenne
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/07
The Plains is a "historic" hotel. That comes with both good and bad. The good was clearly the location and proximity to other historic structures and points of interest. In addition, some modern conveniences were available (spa, coffee bar, etc.) that were well managed. The bad was occasional unavailability of hot water and cleanliness (shower curtain had mold on it and old ventilation system). If you like restored historic downtown communities I would suggest a stay. If you prefer the mall environment (and yes, Cheyenne has a mall) I would suggest perhaps some of the newer low-mid range hospitality chains (Best Western, etc.). There are occasional community events hosted at the Plains (wine tasting, holiday parties, etc.) which are very nice. The hotel has no pool/whirlpool type modern conveniences and the workout facility consists of a TV, treadmill (1), bike (1) and eliptical (1), all functioning properly.

Great place to just hang out
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/01/07
I love the Plains hotel here in cheyenne. Though I don't stay in there rooms. But there coffee shop and restaurant is top of the line. The staff there is always friendly... I just love hanging out there, I use there WI FI and just enjoy the beautiful hotel in Downtown Cheyenne Wyoming...

I love this Place
By Keven, 12/08/06
This classic hotel in Downtown Cheyenne is definatly a place to visit if coming through Cheyenne. The restaurant is really nice, however to modern for a lovely old hotel. Most of the rooms are a bit on the small side, but still quite cozy. Also has a great espresso shop and gift shop. Must see place, whether you need a night sleep or just stop and visit.

We will be back
By Angela, 08/08/06
The Plains hotel is a wonderful place to stay. Great location! The staff is wonderful. Pat and all the girls are great. They make you feel at home and help in any way they can. We loved it here. It is like going back in time with all the luxuries of today. We had a great room with very comfortable beds. It is within walking distance of great restaurants and shopping. We will definitley go back. Angela Beard Baylis, IL

Horrific Hotel Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/20/06
I'm in the local area on business for two weeks. Last week I spent at the Plains Hotel. This is what I experienced. -The Hotel is in a great location, accross the street from the Depot. -Unless you get a suite, there is no micro-fridge or microwave. -I stayed on the 5th floor and water took forever to heat up....I mean like three or four minutes to get warm. -The wireless internet connection does not work on the 5th floor unless you are located near the elevators. I had to sit near the elevators in the center part of the hotel to get connected! -Service at the Capital Grille was horrible, this can be confirmed by at least four other people that were there with me....horible service that took forever to even get your food, no matter how busy they were. -The fitness center is a joke! The coffee bar was the best part of that hotel; the service down there was outstanding! -Three of us checked into the Best Western's Hitching Post yesterday and we couldn't be happier. This place makes the Plains look like a cheap motel. And my wireless works here just fine. -Heed my warning and unless you want high prices, bad service (except for the coffee bar), no fridge or microwave, then stay at the Best Western! Cheers....

A great stay
By Rich, 03/14/06
We spent a Saturady night at this hotel and fell in love with it. Old world charm in the wild west. Our room was spacious and very well appointed. Our only complaint was that the service in the restraunt downstairs was a bit slow. Overall, a very nice stay in a very special place.
