Book 'em Dano
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/25/05
It's the hotel where, during the beginning credits of Hawaii 5-O, Steve McGarrett is standing. That's all you need to know.

Expect nothing more than a place to stay - Everything else will cost you
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/11/05
Was supposed to be a ocean front hotel - not even close. The pools were tiny and the walkways were always wet through the three days I stayed there. Had requested a non-smoking room to only find the person checking us in state "it was either or or a non-smoking room" What does that mean - it is either a non-smoking room or not. Shows the attitude of the staff. We had to pay additional $20 for parking. Tried to sell us every upgrade possible. Never felt so nickel and dimed by any hotel of repute. I have stayed with the Marriot properties before and had very good experieces. This one is by far the worst. The room was clean and the "partial ocean view" was nothing more than the lanai (balcony) providing the view of the street that ends at the yacht club. The concierge desk was least helpful in guiding us and nost interested in selling us activities we did not want. You would do well to compare the reviews (I admit, I did not do it before I booked the hotel) with other hotels of the same star rating in the area. Wonder how AAA messed up this one! Advice - Stay here only if you are looking for a no more than a place to stay.

Great Location -
By Alg, 4/21/08
The Ilikai Hotel is a quiet hotel close to the Ala Moana Beach. The concierge, bellhops and the front desk all gave very good directions on where to eat and what to see besides the beach! The room was large, spacious and had a good view of the city. The bed was comfortable and the lanai great! Due to construction, two restaurants were closed, however, there are several excellent restaurants within walking distance such as the Chart House which is located next door to Ilikai and overlooks the Ala Wai Harbor; the Wailana Coffee House for inexpensive breakfast and the Hilton Hawaiian Village within walking distance houses a Benihana of Tokyo Restaurant and Cj"s New York Deli. The only downside was the slow elevators.

Will not go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/12/07
The pictures on the web do not match the rooms. The problem is that when we got a rental car you still need to pay an additional $20.00 a night to park the car. We returned the car and used local transportation. The rooms were not what we were expecting. We had just left Kona and then went to Honolulu and we were not very impressed with Ilikai Waikiki Hotel. The staff was nice but then again they were there to make money. Did not like that looking out the windows you see construction. Not a pleasant view

Great place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/13/05
We stayed at the Ilikai when we first moved to Hawaii. We fell in love with the oceanfront view. The Ilikai has a great location right on Waikiki beach. Every night at 6:00 they blow the conch shell and Hawaiian guys run around wearing native Hawaiian attire and light all of the torches. The kids loved to watch. Also almost every evening they had live entertainment by the pool. We enjoyed the Hawaiian music and the dancing.

I wish i could come back
By Brian, 12/19/06
THis place was awesome, really close to the beach, and shopping centers, fast food, and more. I cannot imagine a better location for the Illikai. Also, the beds were the best I have ever slept in.

Great stay.. Going again !!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/29/07
My wife and I stayed at the Ilikai for our 30th wedding anniversary. We really enjoyed the stay. The staff was very helpful. The room was very nice and comfortable, and very clean.Just a short walk to the beach. And a large shopping center within two blocks.Close to Resturants too.We were on the 24th floor had a great view of the ocean and the boat harbor.Had no problems with the elevators, even with so many using them.We are planning to go back again. The beds are the best.It is very reasonable in price.
