We will call the Ilikai first from now on!
By ,
Spacious rooms with kitchens and beautiful ocean and sunset views! Friendly staff and elegant lobby. About a mile to the Ala Moana mall.Torches decorate the outside areas at night. Fireworks can be viewed on Friday evenings. My only criticism would be that the railings could use a bit of paint. I highly recommend this resort.

YUCK!
By ,
We stayed before when it was Renaissance Ilikai and love it. This time it was a horrible experience. No restaurant, no shops, no employees, it's a ghost town. Property itself is in very poor condition. Needs a total renovation, especially in tough economic times to increase business. We'll never go back! Would not recommend anyone to stay there.

Would not stay again
By ,
The overall facility has not been kept updated and presentable to be in the location it is. Needs a lot of painting and renovating. No pool in operation while there, resturant closed, and rooms were to be adjoining and we were put on opposite wings. All the halls to the rooms were very warm, elevators hot - no a/c in either.

No Place but The Ilikai
By ,
Our excellent experience at the Ilikai began a week or two before our arrival, when we called to ask a question. The person who answered the telephone recognized us using caller ID and greeted my husband by name. Similarly, when we checked in, the valet parking attendants, the bellhops, and the desk clerk all treated us as graciously as we had hoped they would. Our room was exactly where and what we had reserved. It was spotlessly clean and very welcoming. Our luggage was brought up promptly. Throughout the week, hotel staff answered questions for us and helped us make arrangements. They made us feel both welcome and wanted. The parking valets brought our car promptly each and every time, gave us directions, and even laughed along with us when we returned with tales of becoming lost on Honolulu's one-way streets. One staff member directed us to our destination via cell phone as we drove there. The hotel, itself, is a gem, even in its current state of ongoing renovations. Not only does it feature a sculpture by Wyland, cultural murals in elevator lobbies, and, of course, the famous Chinn Ho monkeypod tree, as well as a glorious view of the ocean and the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor. Its open lobby draws in the wonderful trade winds and invites visitors to sit and stay awhile. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else. For me, there simply is nowhere else.

Great Location -
By ,
The Ilikai Hotel is a quiet hotel close to the Ala Moana Beach. The concierge, bellhops and the front desk all gave very good directions on where to eat and what to see besides the beach! The room was large, spacious and had a good view of the city. The bed was comfortable and the lanai great! Due to construction, two restaurants were closed, however, there are several excellent restaurants within walking distance such as the Chart House which is located next door to Ilikai and overlooks the Ala Wai Harbor; the Wailana Coffee House for inexpensive breakfast and the Hilton Hawaiian Village within walking distance houses a Benihana of Tokyo Restaurant and Cj"s New York Deli. The only downside was the slow elevators.

The best location for your money in Waikiki Ocean Front
By ,
Great location, beautiful ocean front hotel next to Hilton Hawaiian Village. Wonderful vews, easy walk to Ala Moana Park. Ask for the quiet side of the bulding.

Would never go back!
By ,
The Ilikai used to be the best place to stay - not so anymore. The main pool is closed while remodeling part of the hotel, Canoe's is closed while remodeling, the Japanese Restaurant is closed - there is no lighting ceremony anymore - the whole courtyard is dark and dull. Also, the noise of jack hammers continuously from 8:00am - and pounding etc. The main desk couldn't care about being helpful - elevators don't work half the time - only 2 out of 5 running. We have been coming here for 35 years and what a disappointment it was this time!!!!!!!

Not for your Honeymoon
By ,
We selected this hotel for our honeymoon. Not a great choice. The lobby was fairly nice with a great breeze and nice staff. The elevators were hot, stopped on the wrong floors, and were so slow. The hallways were also hot, outdated, but clean. Housekeeping was very detailed! The parking valet was $25.00 per night and we were told we could not park without using the valet. So besides all that we got to our room the first night and looked out our window for a beautiful view and to our suprise there were these big construction cranes and all kinds of equipment and building going on. As my husband said "I guess if we only look to the right we can see the ocean, just don't look down or straight". The air conditioner did not work very well and there was a tote to catch the water on the balcony. We complained and we were told they had nothing available for the honeymooners unless we were willing to pay $50.00 to $150.00 more a night. Only one pool was open, no hot tub, no restaurant for breakfast or lunch, Needless to say we still had a great time in Oahu just would not recommend this hotel. Marsha
