Can't wait to go back!!!
By Kimberly, 09/28/09
I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews but wow were they wrong. Everything was perfect about our stay. The room was pricey but well worth it. I am a bit of a germ nut and never felt weird staying in this room at all. I felt like we were the only ones in the house and it was our own room. The next morning the breakfast was incredible. There was so much to choose from plus the chef made to order eggs benedict and omelets. All of the breads were homemade, even the english muffins used for the eggs benedict. the staff was friendly also. Not a big fan of bed and breakfast inns but this one deserves an A+++++. we are DEFINITELY going back!!!

Don't get married here!
By Jeanine J, 04/28/09
My Fiance' and I were looking for the perfect location for a romantic wedding & we thought we found it when we visited the Barley Sheaf . At first glance the country setting seemed like the perfect location for an outdoor reception. We stopped by in March & spoke to the inn keeper & picked up some information. The gentleman who briefly showed us a couple of rooms explained that there was a $10,000 site free (which you get nothing except the use of the property. Not even the tent) & we had to rent out ALL 17 rooms for the entire weekend. I later spoke to Lola, the owner of the Barley Sheaf, on the phone 2x's & scheduled an appointment on 4/26 at noon to discuss the details. I explained to Lola that my fiance' travels extensively for work & I go to school on weekends so our time was valuable and we were serious about moving forward. Well, when we drove an hour out there on a Sunday, and Lola never showed up for the appt. The women at the desk said Lola left the packet (which she knew I already had) & that "the price is the price and there was nothing further to discuss." I'm very shocked by the arrogance of this place especially when someone is getting ready to plan the most important day of their life. I'm still shocked at how rude Lola was not to even show up for the appt. If you're looking for a place to book your special event, pass the Barley Sheaf by and find a place that's going to work with you to make it special.

We thought it was wonderful until this...
By Christine, 01/02/09
After spending a fabulous honeymoon at the Barley Sheaf my husband and I decided to return for our first anniversary. Unfortunately the establishment seems to be declining with the economy. We were appalled and shocked to find plastic (yes, plastic) bags of muffins and banana bread on the counter as breakfast. There were NO staff onsite except for a rather sullen housekeeper who informed us we could make our own breakfast. Upon complaining that we did not receive the usual fabulous breakfast we were told that we could be refunded only $12.50. We of course had to telephone our complaint the following day as NO ONE was working. We were not given notice that we were buying the bed without the breakfast. After this we will never trust what seemed to be such a good thing. Our trips to Barley Sheaf will not be annual, in fact we will never visit again.

Return trip in the works
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/29/08
You get what you pay for and with regards to the Baley Sheaf Farm B&B it is so true. The former estate of the great American playwright & theatre icon, George S Kaufman, this is a theatre buffs dream come true.Immaculate grounds, very friendly full time staff, excellent Spa & wellness options on site. Full time chef - we had the 6 course dinner - you must call ahead. At 575.00 per day (Man who came to dinner suite) is pricey for a B&B, but worth it.

Perfect for Our Close Honeymoon
By AmandaC, 12/28/06
We got married 4 days before Thanksgiving and didn't want to go far from home for our honeymoon. We love New Hope and we saw the web site for Barley Sheaf and thought it looked like a great place. We stayed for three nights and had a great time! We stayed in the You Can't Take it With You Suite. It was amazing! The breakfast was out of this world and the spa service was great. We received an afternoon snack everyday which was also phenomenal would recommend Barley Sheaf to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area and we will definitely return for one of our anniversaries!

Too much for too little
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/27/05
We thought the grounds were lovely and the New Hope area is fabulous with alot of great shopping and restaurants. The Inn was not very busy at the time of our stay but yet we found we were not at all happy with the service. There were only 2 other guests there at the time of our stay and they too were not thrilled with the service. We both agreed that the prices are too high for what you get.

Barley Sheaf Farm
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/07/04
We recently stayed at the Inn and found it to be dusruptive with construction going on. We also did not find the Inn itself to be very clean. They advertise a delicious breakfast with home baked goods, which we found to be much less than mediocre.

Very Disapointed!
