Got married there! Loved it!

We travelled from Australia to Fiji so we secured a deal around A$1800 per person for a week (5 days on the island & two days on mainland). For the price it was value for money and my guests, including two sets of newlyweds reckon it was the best wedding they had ever been too including their own.
The service was wonderful and since we became very friendly with the staff, they went the extra mile for no extra charge at our wedding (A fact commented on by many of our guests). The chapel (only two years old)is exactly like picture but the resort itself is about twenty years old and thus looking a little tired.
Avoid December to March because summer in Fiji is intolerably humid (we lived there for 5 months & I'm from sunny QLD). AVOID PEAK SEASON especially Easter & Christmas, the resort facilities operate most efficiently around the 75% capacity! We also advise you to get out of the resort and travel around Nadi & Suva locally. The resorts know you are tourists and in the restaurants they will charge tourist prices!
Treasure Island is ideally suited for mid-sized budgets for young couples, young groups of friends and families with children under 5yrs - 15yrs. We noticed that the people that always having the best time were in groups so take along some good friends or extended family.
Speaking honestly if its professionalism you are looking for, go somewhere else. But if you are like us and like the freedom to do whatever you want without ruling-abiding and clock-watching staff looking over your shoulder then you will love Fiji.
Look out for travel agents who advise you to stay in Domoni Bure (not value for money) or who are charging you 5 star resort prices (not value for money either and particularly aimed at Europeans & Americans). One middle aged NZ couple (who were not well-liked at our wedding) whinged the whole time and got all their money back AFTER telling us they had a great time!
THE FINAL WORD ... now I tend to be put off when I read negative comments about a place and make a mental note to avoid it like the plague but a good travel holiday is based on expectations not on destination. So if you have read any negative comments about a place be sure to also find out what the reviewers expectations were as well. Their idea of a two star resort might be any resort that's not a five star!
And if you were wondering what the other forty guests for our wedding thought, then let's just say they've all signed up for a five year reunion for a renewal of our vows!
