Baur Au Lac, Zurich

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights for vacation. I was wearing shorts, t shirt and sneakers when I was going in the hotel and I was stopped by the door guard. I told him that I was checking in and he looked at me like he didn't believe me, then he put up a smile and took me to the front desk. I looked around and most of the guests are over 50 and they all in business formal. On the next day, I went to the front desk and ask them if they can show me where the business center is and the guy asked me "Why?" @_@!!... I forgive them, maybe they don't have many young guests like me, so he didn't expect a 30 yr old would stay at their hotel during vacation. It's not a hotel for people who wants a relax and casual vacation stay. This hotel is pretty expensive, my room was $560.00 CHF a night. They are still using a cheap 27" TV ( I stayed at Hilton in Geneva with a nice HD TV for almost half of the price). I have to say the room is pretty and nice. However, the carpet is very old, even the hallway carpet is newer and feels better than the room carpet. They make up your room twice a day, but the maids tried to flush a plastic wrap into the toilet and it didn't go, ends up I had to used a plastic bag and pick it up myself!!! When we were leave we found an apple under the bed!!!! They really don't do a very good job on cleaning. It's located right on the bank district and next to all the high end brand name stores, but all the fun is on the other side of the river... This hotel might be good for business people or for luxury stay, but not good for travelers who's looking for a fun vacation.
