We won't be backl

We were leaving Madrid early in the morning so planned to stay at the Tryp Diana overnight due to location, cost (it is inexpensive) and value, given the free airport shuttle. Check in was uneventful, except that we were struck by the unpleasant odor whose source we never identified.
Our rooms were adequately sized and equipped, but the mattesses were exceptionally thin and uncomfortable. The carpeting was worn out, there was no way to lock the windows from the inside (we were on a lower floor) and the door to the room did not close on its own. Additionally there was no chain or bolting system from the inside which made us feel insecure.
We requested and were provided extra pillows. The front desk could not recommend any place for dinner other than their own restaurant. The walls were thin and the room was noisy much of the night.
To my surprise and delight the towels were exceptionally large and fluffy. (They were wonderful and the only pleasant surprise we found.)
We attempted to take the shuttle to the airport and were told to be downstairs about 40 minutes before we needed to be at the airport, however the shuttle does not operate on a schedule and fills quickly. We were flying out of the new terminal four and ended up taking a cab.
We won't be back.
