Natural Bridge Hotel, Natural Bridge

Natural Bridge is an interesting tourist trap in the foothills. The Bridge is impressive, the Zoo is interesting, the gift shop good, the snack bar and ice cream good, and the grounds well-maintained. We've stayed in the hotel four separate occasions in the last three years with a different experience each time---some good, some not so good. Amenities have been disappearing yearly. The old heated pool under the gift shop was fantastic, but appears to be permanently closed now---it was a big attraction for the kids. The mini-golf area was closed. Carpets in the rooms were a little dirty. Our double beds (be sure to avoid room 341) behaved like taco shells when we sat or laid down on them---very uncomfortable. They need replacing! It would make a huge difference as far as making the stay more pleasant. I haven't slept in one of their queen-sized beds, so I can't judge them---they may be better. Some instructions for operating the heat and A/C in the rooms would be nice, too. They've got a pretty good wireless internet connection---that's a plus. The dining room atmosphere is very nice, but the flavor of the food can be inconsistent. The dining room staff is very nice. Front desk personnel nice, too. Buying tickets for the Bridge was interesting recently---the lady had no idea if the Drama was going to run or not and was somewhat argumentative. It would be nice if the folks at the Bridge called or radioed up to her to give her a heads-up as far as conditions for the Drama. Turned out the Drama broke down---no lights and no refunds offered. The hiking is good and plants along the Natural Bridge trail are very interesting in the spring---redbuds, solomon's seal, jack-in-the-pulpit, trillium, etc. I'd like to go back to the hotel again, but prices are rising and quality appears to be dropping. Would like to hear if beds have been replaced before trying to book a room again.

I remember being there when I was a child. Not much has changed in 40 years. We rode motorcycles from PA, had our "2 wheel discount" in hand and it was NOT honored. I heard on woman at the front desk say "there are no smoking rooms" and another say the exact opposite. The bridge itself is awesome. The night show is somewhat contradictory. Creation VS. millions of years ago.....So much more could be done with the bridge. The food was good. The lounge was good, Amy, the bartender was very nice. Our room was clean and very large. The view was good. I can imagine it being a spectacular hotel back in the day!

We've stayed here a number of times over the years and have always enjoyed it. The location is beautiful, the staff is friendly, the atmosphere is peaceful. The Friday night seafood buffet is great!! We will be back in 08!

It started off badly. We got there early, and nocticed other peole checking in. I approached the young lady at the desk, and asked her if we could check in early. She asked me for a reservation number, I gave her the paper from my computer, and she rolled her eyes. She spent about ten seconds on the computer snapped "the room is not ready" Then said "as it shows clearly on the paper check in is not until 4pm" then she walked away (she did this while pointing at the paper) I said "I can read but we are tired " she was SO RUDE!! The rooms are small the bathroom like a closet. The only good thing was the location. I will sleep in my car before staying here again

This is the second time we stayed in this hotel for parent's weekend at WLU...only place available. It's old and OK. I would rate it 2 stars if I were a critic. Again, this time the water was full of dirt particles so the water inside room was not drinkable and it left a dirt film on body. The hair dryer and coffee pot blew a fuse...luckily in the morning. Once again and the front desk was not friendly (noticed that on our last trip) when something else happened which was annoying (can't remember). I will avoid next time if at all possible...too many other nice and friendly places in Lexington.

Last year, I traveled with my 2 young (5 & 6) sons to see Natural Bridge, and we were pleased with the Inn. It may not be the newest or fanciest, but our room was clean and more than adequate for us. Being a woman alone, I was concerned about security, but once we arrived, I felt absolutely safe & comfortable there. The staff was helpful and friendly, and everything we needed was right there. We didn't spend much time in the room, so for the money, convenience, and safety, it was definitely worth it. The only thing that we missed was a place for breakfast & dinner--the dining room is pricey and not really for kids. The snack bar by the Natural Bridge site is nice for lunch or a snack, and my boys loved feeding the fish from the patio. If we went back, we would be sure to eat dinner early and then give the kids a snack if they were hungry later. We found a great breakfast at the "Pink Cadillac" diner a short drive away. The kids loved the 50's atmosphere with jukebox etc... If I return to Natural Brige, I will definitely stay at the Inn again, in a room with a balcony.
