Great Family Hotel
By Raeona, 8/11/11
This hotel was a great place for our family vacation. They were able to check us in early so we had a place for our bags as we arrived before check-in and then they cheerfully held our bags after we checked out. Our rooms were right by the pool so that made it fun for our children to end their day in the pool. The staff was very helpful, even finding a vase for our son's plant that he found. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Great place for a family vacation.

TERRIBLE AWFUL WEDDING VENUE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/1/11
We had a function there recently and the place was dirty, the sound system they used in the ballroom was terrible and the feedback terrible squeeling noise for so long and nobody seemed to bother - then the microphone was that low nobody could hear anything. The DJ played from 7-12 but the manager of the hotel told him to turn it down to lower than dinner music at 9.45pm and killed the party - this is NOT a place you want to have a wedding or any function EVER

TURN BACK WHILE YOU STIlLL CAN!
By AngelaD, 2/28/10
I am incredibly disappointed with this place. There are no check in policies listed on their website, but when I arrived, they told me that I could not check in because I needed a credit card and ID. Which I provided. I was then told that my military ID was not good enough, that I must have a driver's license or state issued ID, or they *might* be able to take a passport. This policy is ***NOT*** listed anywhere on their website. Pros: the woman at the counter did refund my money, and when I called, I spoke to the weekend manager (it was a Sunday, the general manager was not in) and he said he would override the policy if I still wished to stay. Cons: By this time, I had already called my husband in tears and asked him to come get me because I had nowhere to stay. If you do decide to stay here, you should probably call and make sure you have an updated policy, in case they want your dental records, birth certificate, social security card, etc. to be able to check in.

Love the place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/15/10
The staff and hotel help were delightful and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The upper floors are all brand new and I don't know how any of the earlier posts can say what they say. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE ROCHESTER PLAZA!

What a F****** Dive!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/09
If they have just reno'd this place they might want to try again! Tired, Filthy! Did I mention Filthy? Was suppose to stay 3 nights, could not handle even 2.. The noise from inside and outside of the hotel was incredible! And we did not even face the street. The sheets were clean I think, But I was afraid to look too closely... More the staff attitude of "Don't bother me, rather than how can I help you?" PigSty, Filth... I do not know how else to describe this place... Unless you have no choice, except to be that close to Downtown Rochester.. then stay someplace else...It will be money well spent!

DISCRIMINATION-BELIEVE IT OR NOT!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/5/09
My friends & I wanted to enjoy our New Year by having a few cocktails at the bar & ended up witnessing discrimination against a customer. He was enjoying himself causing no problems. Friendly, regular looking man enjoying his beer by himself. The manager insisted the man leave the hotel/bar completely out of the blue. The manager made the big scene and it ruined our good time. Perhaps he wasn't dressed accordingly when the snobbish group walked in? Thank god the man was the better person and walked away from the embarrassment the manager caused him. I will NEVER go back there again! I didn't think they were professional nor welcoming to everyone that came there!!!!

Not Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/2/09
Stayed despite the bad reviews, some people are just nasty if they don't get "their way". But, The room was always cold regardless of how high or long the heat was on. Had two bottles of water on the floor that were colder than the ones in the cooler! The bathroom smelled like moldy old socks but I couldn't find where it was coming from... The hallway rugs looked like they hadn't been cleaned since the 60's. On the positive side the breakfast was good and the bar in the lobby was fine.

What a dump.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/25/08
My sheets were clean. Other than that, it was a dirty dump. The carpets are filthy and the walls are stained. Prostitutes and their pimps walking through the lobby at night. There were aggressive union picketers out front trying to shove literature at you when you drive in. The emplyees were helpful and pleasant and the bar was nice.

Horrible Experience
By Tyson from Utah, 9/13/08
Staying at this Hotel my watch (given to me by my wife for our 2nd anniversary) and my wedding ring were stolen and the Hotel, especially the Hotel Manager Paul Kremp have done nothing to rectify the situation or to even return a phone call. The staff tried to help out, but Paul Kremp is the one in charge they would say and he still hasn't returned dozens of phone calls and e-mails. It has been about 3 months now. I would stay far away from this place. If only the owner Dr. Day from NJ knew, I wonder if he would rectify the situation?

Never go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/6/08
We were assured that the 'cosmetic' work being done on the hotel at the time of the wedding would be unnoticeable. Sandblasting the building as you walk in is not unnoticeable! Nor was it unnoticeable to have to cross picket lines because they were using non-union workers. This is how it started. We had to change hotel rooms twice because the plumbing was not working. The carpeting is lifting up in the hallways, toilet tank covers were not fitting on top of the toilet, I guess mix and match is a new look. We had reserved rooms for over 50 guests at the hotel. More than half of the guests had to change rooms. One of my guests didn't want me to know that they didn't have air conditioning in their room. We had my daughter's reception there also. So here is the review of the reception. We were told when we booked that there would only be one wedding at the time of our wedding. Their definition of one wedding at a time is one at 4 pm and one at 4:30 pm. We had to page our wedding coordinator Patty repeatedly, but from what we hear, she was giving great service to the other wedding. Ignoring us completely. The ceremony: the aisle was not as long as we were told and the customized aisle runner was not displayed appropriately. it was secured upside down so the hand painting was not visable. Until the recessional when they had cut the runner and had the writing visable. The bride asked them to flip the runner but they refused! During the cocktail hour, some of the hand passed hors d'oeuvres were not put out and some were put on the back of the table with the hors d'oeuvre. None were ever hand passed. They had servers from the other wedding walking through our cocktail hour with food telling our guests that these aren't for you, don't touch! The table service was horrible. There were not nearly enough servers. The orders were a mess, despite having to document who had what on the seating cards. They were removing plates before half the reception was fed. Then we had the power loss. Again we had to go find our wedding coordinator. By running extension cords across the floor and taping them down we were able to get the music going again, but the ceiling fans in the tent...no such luck. They did allow us to stay 30 minutes longer because of the power issue but there were hotel representatives, trying to stop us earlier. The housekeeping service was horrible. Rooms were not made up until very late in the day. The hotel is an absolute mess, nothing like it was when it was part of the Crowne Plaza group. The service that we received by our coordinator was poor at best. She was always upset and made us feel like we were bothering her for the most simple of requests. I would never recommend anyone to this hotel, and would not ever want to sleep there again and would hope that I can prevent at least one bride from ruining their day by this review. The thought that my daughter's most important day was ruined by their lack of professionalism is extremely upsetting.
