Golden Inn Hotel & Conference Center, Avalon

I have stayed at this hotel since 1969, when I was 4 yrs. old. It is beautiful here. I love this hotel!!! It is paradise. Avalon & Stone Harbor have the best beaches. This hotel has a fantastic position, right on the ocean. I spent some wonderful summer memories with my family. Yes, it's a little expensive, but I wouldn't trade the times I've stayed here for anything. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who loves a sunny day @the Jersey shore. Look no further.

when my family and i first arrived we were very excited, but as soon as we entered our room we were angry. the beds were made sloppy, there was hair in the bathroom and urine on the side of the toilet. the kitchen had dirty dishes put away. when i talked to the housekeeping manager she was not helpful and rude. the next day the maid came in to clean the room and she didnt vaccum and i didn't receive towels until later in the day. i will never return to this hotel and would never recommend it!!!

The room was unclean and had a musty odor. Towels in the refrigerator. Old inexpensive funishings, very thin sheets. We almost slept in the car. When we were there, they would not give us another room, although they did move us once, it was not any better. They offered a free weekend to us after I emailed them upon our return home, but the manager said they had no other rooms that were any nicer. I opted for a refund of half of our room fee. I would never stay there again. The staff was friendly and pleasant, and the restaurant was good. Nice pool. If they would update and clean, it might be a good value.

Liked everything esp.the location to the beach & a pool for questional weather days. The availability of a full bar inside & an outside bar with table service was great.

We've never paid so much to get so little...destination not worth the travel time to get to, either! A/C didn't work in our room the 1st night; food and service below average; only redeeming factor was that they were on the beach -- but that was crowded and dirty too! Have never written a review before, but this experience compelled me to do so.

We didn't have a reservation but walked in and asked if a room was avaialable. We were immediately accomodated at an affordable price and the staff were incredibly helpful and courteous. The room was clean, comfortable and the beach was just a few steps away. The restaurant and pool side snack/bar were lovely. We plan to return in the near future.

The rugs and mattresses are old and dirty. The cleaning staff does a poor job. When I arrived, the toilet was dirty, there was hair on the bathroom floor, the room hadn't been vacuumed and there were hairs in the towels, washcloths and bedsheets. Even after the maid returned to redo the bathroom it was STILL dirty so I cleaned the room myself. I didn't want to leave because I was there for a weekend conference, but I would not return to this hotel.
