PAYMENT EXPERIENCE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/9/11
THE BILL FOR 2 NIGHTS , THE TOLTAL BILL WAS HELD FOR DOUBLE THE AMOUNT UPON PAYING THE BILL TO MY VISA, INCLUDING THE DEPOSIT WHICH WAS ALRADY TAKEN OUT AND RECOEVED BY THE HOTEL. WHEN I CALLED THE HOTEL , THE FEELING I RECIEVED WAS THAT THEY COULD CARE LESS. , I GUESS YOU COULD SAY MY ADVICE IS " CHECK YOUR BILL OVER CAREFULLY"

Old Hotel needs some TLC
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/17/09
We liked to location and the heated pool. But the service was "not exactly". The rooms were outdated, small and very hot - there is no AC only ceiling fans. The staff does not go out of their way to be helpful. The food is pretty good, but again the service is slow and not very friendly.

A great time at the Colony Hotel !
By Parachutes, 6/19/08
This hotel is amazing ! The rooms are all nice, and if you choose to get an ocean view room they all have great views. All the rooms are clean and comfortable. The salt water pool is very nice for a morning swim. The hotel has it's own private beach which is well-protected and beautiful. It's in a very beautiful location, right near the Bush mansion and other pretty houses which you can drive by on Ocean Avenue. Come stay here if you want a great time in Kennebunkport !

poor service
By AM, 5/23/08
I had to miss a friend's wedding because we couldn't stay the night even though it was the hotel listed with the wedding. why would anyone want to stay 3 nights for a wedding? The girl who returned my call about reservation questions(they don't have a hold button on their phone) asked me if I had any questions to call, which is what I did. Ridiculous. I will certainly go out of my way to dissuade people from staying at this hotel.

our trip in July
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/23/07
My husbands whole side of the family met here in July. We had four different hotel rooms. The place and setting is just wonderful. The price could be much better. The breakfast buffet is great and the staff is great. We had problems with two different hotel rooms and bug bites. We are not sure what bite us. We complained, and nothing was done at all. We thought the dogs and barking would be a problem, but it was not. The scenery is great, but I asked my husband if he would stay here again, and he said no after getting bite and the management doing nothing and having no record of us complaining.

Flawless performance
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/8/07
A business commitment required that my wife and I had to leave this wonderful hotel after only two days and head back to Omaha. The only management stumble came in the gift shop, where books about Bill and Hillary Clinton were given places of honor. This in a community and in a hotel favored by George H.W. and Barbara Bush. Bah! In every other way, we loved the Colony Hotel!

Everything was perfect!
By Mary, 6/18/07
We attended a wedding at the hotel this weekened. Everything was great. We started with the cocktail hour which was outside with great views of the water. The reception was beautiful. The food which included surf and turf was very good. The staff was very friendly. I usually don't bring my dog away for the weekend, but we had to this time. The hotel was pet friendly as well as clean.

Great Fall Escape
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/4/06
Just returned from a four night business conference that I extended in order to take advantage of this scenic area. The hotel is conveniently located about 1 mile from the Bush compound in one direction and about 1 mile from town in the other direction. No room TVs in the main building, power problem (could not charge my laptop), free internet access (wireless in the lobby and conference rooms)! Beautiful gardens.... Fireplace, afternoon tea, pet friendly, awesome views (make sure to request an ocean view room). The friendly housekeeping and wait staff were mostly from Jamaica....great and attentive job! The food was great....impressive breakfast buffet included in room rate...good wine list...I was with a group of over 100 and the banquet prep was outstanding...we had a lobster bake - not to be missed also tried grilled tournedos with lobster cakes at an individual seating - superb....blueberry pie a la mode you must try! ... Meeting space was adequate....good audio/visual. ...walls are thin...not great if you are a light sleeper.

The Hotel with an Attitude
By Lawrence, 6/30/06
This place is the worst...no motto here that the customer is always right...the management sits on their high and mighty throne and tells YOU the way things are going to be. We booked 10 days for the coming summer on our departure last year for the same room. The front desk person checked availability and said we were all set. No written confirmation, although they insist it was sent and that they called to discuss our plans, both of which are untrue. They did remeber to charge my credit card for a deposit. They rebooked our room for another guest and are adamant that they cannot cancel for this guest, even though we booked it FIRST!. This staff is totally unwilling to accomodate us and have totally ruined my family's summer vacation. Stay at the local campground before coming to this hotel with bad attitudes. Interestingly enough, when we checked in last year, the attendant at the front desk mentioned to us that he was new this year in that job, but that he had worked in other hotels of similiar reputation, and from what he has seen thus far.....this is a very poorly run operation...in fact his words were..."this is one of the worst" Enough said.
