Twin Bridges Motor Inn, Bettendorf

First of all, the description given on this web site is completely inaccurate. Sure, there's a swimming pool; it's empty and has bushes growing out of it. There is no fitness center and no hot tub. No refrigerator and no microwave. No maid service to speak of. If you want ice, there is a machine in the office (where you also might find a staff member's lunch being stored). Secondly, a number of the "guests" appear to be permanent residents who have set up grills and patio chairs outside their rooms. Saturday night is party-time in the parking lot. It might sound like I'm complaining. I'm only complaining about the deceptive description on the Web. We didn't expect the "amenities" listed here when we spotted the place. One look and you can tell this isn't a great motel. But we tend to like to experience funky kind of places when we travel. The office staff (also residents) were friendly and we were on the 2nd floor so the party going on downtairs Saturday night wasn't really intrusive to us. We did have a problem with the shower spraying water all over the bathroom floor. We had to take the bedspread off one bed to mop up the water. They sent someone up to check it out and after that it was better but they never did replace the bedspread! On the plus side (heheh) the rooms are large and there was a table with 2 chairs by the window. We like to sit and play cards so that was a plus. But frankly, I've gotten us better deals in Extended Stay Hotels with a full sized refrigerator, microwave, 2 burner stovetop, dishes, a sofa, king size bed and an actual swimming pool with WATER in it (!) for less than the rates listed here.
