Denied a lost child help
By Jennifer, 7/17/11
We were there for a baseball tournament. Thru a series of events and very slow elevators I was separated from my 11 year old for about 15mins he asked the lady at the front desk for help and was greeted with a no sorry kid we can’t help you because we can’t make outgoing calls. I overlooked the outdated rooms, the broken running toilet, the trickle of hot water, the filthy tub, the dirty windows and half of the two elevators being stuck at check in but to deny a lost kid any help is just despicable.

The South Bend, IN Holiday Inn is located in downtown South Bend. This hotel is a nice place for the business traveler or families in town. Close to restaurants and sites to see.

LIKE GETTING ROBBED? THIS IS YOUR HOTEL
By Janette Dabbs, 12/10/08
STAY AWAY - CRIMINAL ACTIVITY IN THE AREA, OWNER TURNING A BLIND EYE AND REFUSING TO COVER COSTS OF DAMAGES I had my car broken into about an hour after parking in this hotel's attached garage. Window was smashed in, items stolen from inside, and my stay ruined. Hotel refused to do anything about it, claiming they were not responsible for theft or damage to guest property in the garage. The HELL they aren't! Their inadequate security (one guard patrolling hotel and garage, insufficient security cameras) and failure to increase security in response to reports of garage theft in the area, directly contributed to my 'misfortune' as they like to call it. The law in Indiana says that they have "a duty of ordinary care" to prevent these types of losses to their guests, but they are refusing to honor that duty and recoup the costs of repairing my vehicle and replacing the stolen items. What's more, they are taking no action to correct the problems that led to my loss. I'm set to file a formal court action against them now, and expect to prevail. Moral of the story - STAY AWAY. These guys claim that 'guest comfort and security is our top priority', BUT THEY DON'T MEAN IT. They only care about the bottom line, and I for one am going to make sure they feel the pinch where it matters to them. And it wasn't just the hotel owners who refused to help - IHG (Holiday Inn's parent company) gave me the same song and dance, standing behind their unlawful corporate policies. They'll be losing my business as well, and will be named in my complaint. Want to get robbed??? I didn't. I just came for a decent night's stay, and ended up walking away about $650.00 poorer. If that's the kind of experience you want to have, this is the hotel for you. If not, consider this a friendly warning from a fellow road warrior, and take your business elsewhere. I for one will be staying at the Hyatt Place in Mishawaka from now on - accommodations excellent, customer relations superb, and security problems non-existent.

ITS OK ....I GUESS
By Mrs G-BOI, 11/5/07
GOIN INTO THIS HOTEL I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A WONDERFUL LOOKING PLACE BUT ONE I GOT INSIDE AND INTO A ROOM, ITS NOT AT ALL LIKE YOU WOULD THINK IT TO BE FOR ITS LOCATION OR PRICE. THEY HAVE NO REAL STAND OUT STYLE OR SERVICE. THE NICEST PART OF THE WHOLE PLACE IS THE LOBBY!

Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/27/07
I had to leave immediately for a meeting after checking into my room. I arrived late back to my room and discovered that the floor was covered with small pieces of glass. It was late so I waited until the next morning before reporting it to the front desk along with a small pile of glass for them to see. I was told that the problem would be taken care of. When I returned later that day my floor had not been swept at all. I called the front desk and housekeeping was sent up immediately. I left the room in their care. When I returned that evening to change for dinner there was still glass on the floor. I again took a small pile to the front desk and had the opportunity to talk to the manager. She asked how long I was staying and I told her one more night of a two day stay. At the point she turned to the desk clerk and said "comp her stay and move her to another room". When I returned from dinner I had to move myself to another room. To top everything else when I received my credit card statement they did NOT comp my stay. I called the hotel and left a message for the manager. No return call. I called the next day and was told that my message was not returned because she had been out sick. She said she would check on it and call me back. I called again the next morning and she told me that she would have to have someone else give me a call but he would call me when he returned. He did call but the comp was for one day only. I was very disappointed with how this entire situation was handled and when I return to South Bend I will not be staying at the Holiday Inn Downtown.
