Great view, Great service, crappy value.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/23/08
We recently went to the Lands End Resturant. Ordered a halibut sandwich although it wasn't on the menu. The halibut would fill the palm of your hand ... if you were a 7 year old. A plain halibut sandwich w/o cheese was $18. One with fries and cheese was $19 dollars. A total ripoff. You'd do better at the Cosmic Kitchen in town, or Cups, or Fat Alices, or even the guy that sells pork sandwiches form a trailer next to the Grog Shop. The portions at Lands End have definitely shrunk, for what you pay. The service, however, was great.

One of the best in Homer
By Marilyn Shoemaker, 08/19/08
If you take a condo there is no better than their waterfront ones. If you stay at Lands End there by all means take a water view it's worth the extra money. Restaurant very good food; homemade granola.

Great- Get outta town place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/18/08
If you come to Alaska, you have to visit Homer, Alaska. Its about a 4-5 hour drive from Anchorage. Awesome road side views on the way there. Bring plenty of film !! Halibut fishing capital !! Rent a charter boat. Awesome experience ever ! This hotel is only about a few min. walk in the middle of the halibut boatramp. If you love the smell of ocen fish in the morning....this is the place to sleep.

Check-in is insulting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/19/07
Upon checking in, the girl was quite nice but I think that the procedure that she is made to do is disturbing. I don't smoke but was subjected to a long, threatening talk about the consequences of smoking in the motel room. She even said that smoking is allowed on the balcony but close the windows and door to make sure that housekeeping doesn't smell any some, because if she does we will be charged extra. Then I had to initial a form in several places that says that I will agree to all the rules including the non-smoking issues. Hey folks, you are dealing with adults here! A simple non-smoking sign would be sufficient. I have never stayed at any lodging that subjected guests to this kind of threats and forms. Also the bedspread was lumpy and had a tacky sewn-on patch. I paid a good price for this?

I loved it
By pit bull, 07/31/06
We had one of the ground floor condos. Even though the stairs to the upper floor partially obscured the view, we had a very good view anyway. The room was kind of small, but very luxurious and clean. The resteraunt was great- great food and great view. At the very end of the Spit, it was the best place to stay.

AWESOME!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/17/06
I loved the resort. We only stayed there two nights, but i wish we could have stayed a lot longer. The rooms were very nice and clean. The fitness center was wonderful, and the hot-tub was great, it had a beautiful view. You could see otters and seals if you looked out any of the windows overlooking the bay. No complaints at all, just wonderful!
