Empty... service, quality, rooms, information, etc
By TR170, 6/27/12
It took me over 1 hr to access the internet AFTER I called the front desk and learned that I needed a code and then still was lost (as they provide NO instructions on how to do); the TV is a total guess to you too (No TV Channel listing like EVERY other place provides); breakfast changes locations and times (but nowhere do they tell you that either, despite where they highlighted it on my map, apparently it is only there on weekends); my room had a FEW plates/bowls but only 5 pieces of silverware and one large spoon - NO COOKWARE whatsoever and when I told them that two days after my arrival they said that they would bring some to my room - that never happened prior to my checkout days later; the MAID service BEGINS at 8 am and they make SO Much noise, don't plan on sleeping thru their carts rolling down the sidewalk and if you put a DO NOT DISTURB sign out - they will take the time and NOISE to slip you a piece of paper and tell you that they could NOT clean your room - waking you up; my second morning I was awoken before 9 am by a pressure washer cleaning the sidewalk outside my room and then water flooding my room bringing in dirt, debris, etc - gobs and gobs of it - not just a little trickle by NO MEANS. They have NO courtesy whatsoever at what time THEY start THEIR day. On my 3rd day here, I began to receive emails stating emails were being returned to me as spam, this has NEVER happened to me but apparently thru their internet provider I contracted something and it used my cookies and address book and sent out "Earn Money" emails to absolutely everyone and everywhere I was the day before - Red Roof Inn, even to Nellis Suites, friends I have sent emails to for years, etc - NIGHTMARE - took 3 hours to run a full security scan (that ran 8 hours before I checked in) and it found over 5000 tracking cookies/worms/viruses, etc - so their internet is definitely NOT SECURE at all. I have stayed in 40+ motels over the past 3 years and never in my internet history life have I had a problem UNTIL I stayed at Nellis Suites. Then I live local, 10 miles away, but needed to get a massive project done; I emailed them ahead of time and told them what I needed (to be sequestered and I didn't know for how long) - big sign when you pull in about a Nevada Resident special yet it is nowhere on the internet website when I booked the room. I originally booked for 4 days/3 nights and told them most likely I would be extending (which I did); however, I paid so much MORE because they would not honor the Locals Special as I would have had to do that from the start - BUT THEY KNEW from the start - I didn't - I dealt with the Mgr via emails and he certainly should have mentioned it to me that you will save hundreds if you just book the weekly rate instead of 4 days - but I guess they Really Don't Care - that is the overall impression I got and whomever took the photographs of the room on the internet is one very talented photographer; because they certainly are not that spacious, the furniture is OLD and from a flea market, scratched and beat up; NO TV in the bedroom (never seen that in my life); again NO information whatsoever throughout the room AT ALL about anything - food around you, TV Channels, How to Access the Internet, Breakfast times/locations, check out time, etc - it is the bare bone basic and NOISY. My gosh, the AC units in this place are deafening everytime they turn on and when it is over 105 degrees - I spent a great deal of "quiet" time drowned out in noise. It was a place to be sequestered, certainly not designed for my comfort, it accomplished what I needed to do but any room what have done that - it just is not all that it is cracked up to be and the staff is not helpful at all in my opinion. You will get to hear the plane noise from the Air Force Base and the bugle in the morning to wake you up at 630 am also - bring you OWN everything, plates, silverware, dishwashing tablets, paper towels, can opener and kitchen supplies

Decent extended stay hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/26/11
The place was built in 2001... equipment in the rooms were old but in working order... there is a small kitchen and pots/pans/plates/utensils were provided. The mattress still had the plastic on it, which is good for a shared bedding, I guess. The rooms had walk-in closet, which was nice. Front desk, maintenance, and security staff are very nice and response quickly to requests. Over the 2 months we stayed there, the place was nice and quiet except for a couple of weekends where weekend guests were being loud - but not too terrible. It is located quite far from The Strip, so I would not recommend staying here if you are visiting mainly to go there. It is right down the street from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and right next to Nellis AFB, so if you are here for either one, this is the place to stay.

Meh...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/14/10
I had a king size bed suite; while the room itself was nice (light on the towels) the atmosphere was lacking. The walls are VERY thin and you can hear everything--kids, people thumping music all day, etc. One person next to me, I could tell he was watching ESPN about the NBA all-star draft. You have to pay per use to use the laundry facilities, also and parking is only ok. The location is great, right outside base and the people who worked there were nice. I only complained once about the noise and they corrected it, but it was like if one person wasn't making noise, the other one was. I was right next to stairs and the cleaning people start early and apparently there's no ramp, so their carts bang up and down the stairs starting at 0730. I'm a light sleeper so this is a problem, but I guess if you make alot of noise yourself, then you will fit right in. I would stay here again but ask for a different location for the room and bring ear plugs.

Would never go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/12/09
We had stayed there during our trip to the Nascar Race. We thought that it would be good to stay close to the track. There was 4 of us, so we had a two bedroom suite. When we went to be that first night, we noticed that their was plastic on the mattress and the flat sheet they had on it did not fit. And the blankets smelled. This was midnight. We had to go to Walmart to purchase sheets and blankets. The carpets in the rooms were very stained and smelled. Someone had relieved themsleves on the floor in one of the closets. This really smelled. On one of the days at the races I did not want to take my wallet, so i hid it. It had one credit card in it. So apon arriving home I went to go use my credit card and it was denied. After calling the credit card company I found out that my card was used in Las Vegas after we had left. For them to find my wallet they would have been looking through the room. So did they steel my card and then return it? or what. I would never trust this place!!!!!

We loved the place.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/3/09
This is a better place than most, if you are like me and are looking more of an apartment setting, than a hotel room. Staff was warm, friendly, and very helpfull. Very clean and neat inside and out. I look forward to staying there again.

Overall poor rating
By Deif, 10/9/05
Location: most ads for this property state that it is 15 minutes from downtown and/or the strip. False, this location is at minimum 45 minutes from downtown or the strip by car. 1.5 hours if you take local transit. It is however, conveniently located next to Nellis AFB and you can walk over. The cost to take a cab downtown will be $45 - $50 not including gratuity (if you can get a cab, see below) Staff: staff are supposed to be knowledgable about the location, amenities, etc. False, staff at Emerald Suites in Nellis were less educated than myself (someone who resides in a different country) about what's in the area. * Emerald Suites staff could not advise me on the type of internet access in rooms (or how it works) upon arrival - I had to discover the cat5 jack on my own * Emerald Suites staff could not provide me with instruction on local transit to get to Downtown and/or the strip citing that he wasn't from around here * Emerald Suites staff could not provide the number of a local taxi service and instead provided me with a phone book to look it up myself (in the main lobby) * Emerald Suites staff could not comment on the Internet service which went down - apparently it will take 24 - 48 hours to fix only after having complained to head office Cleanliness: Carpets, floors, etc. should be clean True: room was relatively clean. Nothing ultimately disgusting presented itself. Overall Value: Low cost for services, this is a 3 star afterall. False: Other hotels at same price will offer more. I would give this hotel 1 - 2 stars maximum in which case it is overpriced. Additional note. Emerald Suites Nellis surcharges every monetary transaction at $4.95 as an energy surcharge. This was not in my contract with the establishment.

for a hotel built in 2002, I found minor problems with the room. AC made loud noise, carpet pulled loose. But location and courteous staff was a definite plus.
