Our stay started off great when when we were able to check in early. The suite was nice and very clean. The beds were comfortable and I slept great. The staff was friendly and made really good suggestions on where to eat and what to do. The breakfast bar was delicious and wasn't stale like other places. They offered a shuttle service and dropped off and picked up in the Riverwalk area. This was great because parking downtown is around $5.00, but this saved us a lot due to all the back and forth we did. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone and will definately stay here again.
At 8:15am I arrived at the Hotel. I immediately approached the front desk with my reservation confirmation for a 3pm check-in and requested a parking placard so that I could park in the hotel's parking lot and walk to the AlamoDome for the volleyball tournament. The manager on duty, refused and told me that if I parked there without a permit he would have my vehicle towed. Since most of the guests in the hotel were there for the same 2 day tournament (that had already started and would run until my check-in time), there was adequate parking at the current time, and that few if any vehicles would be returning before the 3pm check-in, I politely pressed on. However, he continued to refuse to issue an early placard to make my life any more convenient and proceeded to tell me that he really didn't care if I ever came back to his hotel because San Antonio is a destination city and he would do just fine without my business.
Well maybe he is right. But the lack of hospitality has soured my taste for ALL Holiday Inn Express hotels and the other chains that they own. I travel about 30-40% in my work, and I have very rarely experienced this degree of inhospitable behavior by hotel management. Because of his actions, I will let the 72 other heavy travelers in my company know about my experience in this hotel chain.
Yes, I have let their corporate HQ know and received a simple "Thank you for letting us know" email. They got my money this time, but never again.
Clean, clean room and great service. Quiet. Comfy bed, sheets and pillows. Well-priced. Free parking and free breakfast. Walking distance to great San Antonio sights.I have no complaints. I would definitely stay there again.
The hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They are a bit a way from the river walk and the attractions but they do offer a shuttle to take you to them all (every half hour).
This is a nice, clean hotel. I would recommend these accomadations to anyone. The staff were extremly courteous and accomadating. We had a bad experience with another hotel earlier and had found this hotel so we were looking for any little thing out of place. We couldn't find one! The location is a little out of the way but with the shuttle service who cares! The shuttle driver Thomas took care of us and let us know the best places to go and where not to go.
Back in the room there was a card that let guests know that a train runs nearby and that they had provided ear plugs for guests who found the noise disturbing. The noise however was hardley noticable. Overall we were impressed with the service and the rooms that this hotel provided. Should we come back to San Antonio this is the place we will stay.
THIS HOTEL IS AWESOME! THE FRONT DESK PEOPLE ARE AWESOME. IF YOU VISIT SAN ANTONIO YOU MUST STAY UP LATE AND MEET HE 2 NIGHT AUDITORS AND THE EVENING SHIFT! JASON, RAQUEL AND NICKI ARE THE SWEETEST PEOPLE. THE MANAGERS ALWAYS SEEMED BUSY AND O TOP OF THINGS, THE HOUSEKEEPERS WERE SO NICE. THE MORNING SHUTTLE DRIVERS WERE NICE. THE BREAKFAST WAS GREAT! I JUST FLAT OUT LOVED IT AND WILL ALWAYS STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!
We loved staying at the Holiday Inn Express on Commerce in San Antonio Texas! They were great to us the entire time. The staff was so helpful! They went out of their way to assist with my flower deliver, the carriage ride and of course the honeymoon suite.....we enjoyed every minute of our honeymoon and the Holiday Inn Express had a great deal to do with that.
Charlsa and Jon Brooks
Nice, compact rooms with a friendly and helpful staff...just don't stray outside at night! The parking lot is small and tight (I couldn't find a space on a Saturday night), but there is a great continental breakfast. One complaint: whatever architect put in one elevator for a multi-story building should be forced to wait in the long elevator lines winding down the halls!
We stayed in one of the suites but the neglected to tell us it was a handicapped room which meant the shower wasn't all it could have been. Great service and very helpful staff. Yes the pool was small but who cares, it helped you cool off.
Any problems were taken care of immediately and appologized all the time.
They really cared it seemed like.
The shuttle driver Thomas rocked!
Sure the hotel didn't look like it was in a great area but it was.
There is also a business center/computer for guests to look at to check flights etc. And if you have any questions about the area the front desk and shuttle people are nice and helpful. Management is right there all the time to help also.
This hotel says it is the "Rivercenter area" however you are at least 6 blocks away from the Riverwalk on the other side of the interstate (which you walk under) in what appears to be a very rough and destitute neighborhood. I was there with my family and would not walk to the riverwalk or any destination from this location especially at night.
The hotel is a basic Holiday Inn Express with a decent room, accomodating staff, standard breakfast and a very very small pool. We checked out after one night and moved next to the Riverwalk for the same dollars with a large pool.
In the right hotel you will love San Antonio
