Rosen Hotel Resort, Orlando

despite calling a day ahead to confirm our reservation they had it off by a day and claimed to be sold out. They put another woman on our conference in a business room within a tub, no dresser and no place to even put your suitcase to unpack. She did have a dinning room table though for six and a hard bed that came out of the wall. She is to sweet to complain but we are all checking out early and moving to a condo in the morning. Parking costs $18 for valet overnight and Internet is $12.95. Nice facility but way to big if you self park for $8 a day you walk up a hill (in Florida?) up to 3 blocks away.

This place is holding the ringers of the annual Orlando Handbell Symposiam(sp?) and from the looks of the reviews, I can't wait. It will be intresting to see if they run out of rooms while booked to people in all parts of the world---United States, England, Japan, Austria, Germany, etc--- and what they do to handle and assess the situation. To me, this hotel seems like a dream hotel (if only orlando had a beach right by it!). To newcomers going to Orlando and want to save money: DON'T BOOK A HOTEL ROOM IS THE DISNEY HOTELS. It is actually cheaper to book at other hotels (such as Rosen Shingle Creek) then to do that. Also, book a room with a kitchenette so you can cook some of your own meals instead of eating out all the time.

I come to Orlando every year for a convention, and have been doing so for 25 years. I also live in South Florida, so of course over the years we have made many many family trips to the Orlando area to visit the Mouse and his friends. This means that I have stayed in a great number of Orlando resorts and have experienced many of these hotels conference and convention facilities. This is the first year for this convention @ Rosen Shingle Creek. The conference and convention facility is on par with all the others. Unfortunately, that's the only good thing I can say about this Hotel. The first problem we encountered was upon arrival. The road coming in is just one lane and it was backed up by at least 20 cars. We were advised by an attendant at the entrance that the valet lot was full and we would have to self park. The first available parking space was a good 3/4 of a mile from the lobby. Problem #1: Parking is terrible. As part of our meeting we had purchased optional breakfast and lunch buffets. Now, granted, these are usually pretty basic affairs, but the Rosen was awful! Problem #2: Basic Banquet Food is terrible. My family joined me for a few extra days of hanging out and the general consensus is that the pool area is below par. It's all concrete with very little shade. Remember these are kids who've stayed at Disney Resorts and upscale Marriott properties, so maybe their remarks are a little jaded, but jeez these pools have nothing going for them. Problem #3: Pool area stinks So to end this rant I just want to say, if you have to come here (and actually I'm typing this while ensconced in a room on the 9th Floor thereof) for business, then do the best you can and bring comfortable walking shoes, because it's a long way from here to there. If you're looking for a resort to hang in for vacation, by all means, look someplace else.

My family went to stay here with my husband while he had a business conference. On our second day there one of their large mirrors fell of the wall onto my two year old son's head. I was able to race over and catch it as it was falling so he did not get the full brunt of it. As he was screaming I tried calling out for help on the room phone and was only able to get a receptionist. She said she'd send help and after several long minutes their security officer arrived. By that time I ascertained that my son seemed to be okay but we were both very shaken. Along with the security officer several resort staff showed up. At first they seemed caring but sooned turned to blaming my son. I was watching him when it fell and he he was sitting on their stool facing away from it so I know he didn't pull on it. It seems to me though that even if he did it should be secured enough that a 2 yr old couldn't pull it off, seeing as how this is a family resort. Staff members than told me I could take him to the hospital at MY cost. Reiterating many time that I'd have to pay for it. I didn't want anything free I just wanted a little caring and concern. In all we were there 4 days and they never checked back or even called to see if I did take him to the hospital. I thought maybe they'd call after we arrived home to see if he was okay but no. My husband called to let someone higher up know how we felt and got the total brush off. My son is fine but their lack of concern has made this my worst stay anywhere. You couldn't pay me to stay there again. Be careful if you take you children there. I would recommend taking the mirrors off during your stay.

My first impression was that this place is really nice. We pulled up and a valet was waiting to take my car. $20 a day for valet, $12 a day self parking. I told them I just wanted to register and that I could park the car myself. I was directed to the far parking lot. I asked about the parking up front and was told I had to park in the far lot. At this point I'm ready to leave but I have reservations. After what seemed to be over a 1/4 mile walk I'm registering and was told I could have parked up front to register. I was livid and the lady apologized for the valet(thanks steve/steven or whatever your name is). I then walk back to the parking lot to retrieve our luggage, we also parked in the closer section of the lot for guest. The hotel was nice, I can't complain about that... very nice pools, 24hr convenient store, hagan daas ice cream shop, restaurants, pizza and deli.. very nice. I did't like the fact that wi-fi was $9.95 a day but we got a good deal on the stay.. I guess I could have paid the $20 a day for the valet but that isn't the point. I would not stay again simply because of the long walk to the parking lot and the aggrevation of the valet. You can park to register either in front of the hotel or the small front side lot another valet told me about. The rest of the staff was great and very friendly from the front desk to the maid.

We stayed this past Christmas (Dec 22-29). For the price we paid we thought it was a great deal. It is comparable to the JW Marriott. We have stayed at several large resorts in the Orlando area. They all charge you for the same things - parking, internet etc. The walk to the parking lot is similar to any large conference resort. The 24 hour store is nice but there is a Publix across the street. We ate in the hotel a few times and the food was very good. There really wasn't anything we didn't like about the place. We would stay there again.

I loved that it had a lot of different pools and it even had shops in the hotel so cool!!!!!

i loved the linens, bed, pillows; so soft, so plush; light weight but very comfortable for the temperature. I lost my phone and security found it and called me. thank you.

This place is an awesome experience. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are luxurious, the food is exquisite, and the facilities are second to none. You will leave feeling revived and rejuvenated and can you really put a price on those feelings?

Hard to get worse service. Granted a beautiful property, but how would you like to wait 40 minutes to get your car out of valet parking? Or try calling down for your car, being told there will be a long wait anyway, then when you arrive from your room discover that even though your car has been retrieved, it has been returned to parking. Ask room service for an estimated delivery time and you will be told delivery can be expected in 30 minutes. I called them back after an hour and had to cancel the order because I had run out of time before I had to get back to the meeting. I tried to get a late night espresso at the bar and was told "no way." I asked about whether the bar in the restaurant had coffee and was told that bar had been closed for half an hour. Glad I checked anyway because the bar was open and served me coffee. No mini-bar in the room, but there is a package store on property where you can buy liquor - starting at $30 a pint! For business, this place stinks.
