Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, Grapevine

We went there for the dream works package that turned into a nightmare with multiple unauthorized charges. Staff not helpful when I called second time on 11/27/2012 and forwarded my call to an answering machine.

This place was AMAZING! From the minute we pulled up and were greeted by staff..to the breathtaking views once inside the resort... One good time after another. The staff was friendly and very accommodating..the restaurants were clean and the food was awesome..Our room was very clean and everything in it's place. I think the best time of year to visit as far as the sights go..is at Christmas time. The decorations are unbelievably gorgeous..and make for GREAT PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES for family and friends. I will be going again this year just before Christmas..and every year after that for as long as I'm able. Just think ladies..all this excitement under one roof. No bad hair days no matter how terrible the weather may be outside. lol. Thank you Gaylord Texan for making this Resort such a pleasant experience for myself and my family and friends. Just finished a girls weekend at the Gaylord Texan. We really were impressed by the grounds and hotel itself. Very pretty and clean. The staff was great from reservation, to food service, to housekeeping and especially to the bus drivers to Paradise Springs. Unlike what I had read, they were helpful and friendly in all regards. All pats on the back for great service. This is a great place if you are looking for lots to do. They have all sorts of summer acvities going on now through September. So many activities, they hand you a scheduled rather detailed list at check in. A must see is "Friday Night Fireworks." What I thought would be cheesy was a wonderful 30 minute firework display over Lake Grapevine. We visited the new mini-waterpark, "Paradise Springs." It was alot of fun but not quite as big as it looks online. Go early for shade or book a poolside cabana. It gets very crowded in the later afternoon. Families with kids looked like they had a blast. On our girls trip, we left the pool to the action packed families for an afternoon of shopping. All in all, we had a great time and are looking forward to going back. Our only regret was that we had booked a Texas View Room for this trip.. We wish we had booked an Atrium View Room in the Texas Tower. They are the premium rooms (a bit nicer) with a view of the action.

I'm really disappointed with the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine. My friends and I booked a reservation over two months ago and it was a special girl's night out package and gift for Mother's Day. We all have babies one or younger and we never get a night off! We chose the Gaylord Texan because it is a beautiful hotel resort in a convenient location for the 4 of us that live all over the area. We specifically waited til June to go since they opened their new pool and lazy river around Memorial Day. This new pool feature was THE THING we were looking forward to the most...well and the chocolate martini bar too! With 6 days notice, they called to tell us the new pool would be closed that night at 5p for a private event. Somehow a last minute event trumps our 2 month old reservation! Hello, it's mid June in Texas!!! We want to use the new pool! Obviously this new feature is a selling point; in fact, it's even mentioned in the description as a highlight of the Girl's Night Out package. We live in the DFW area...we wanted to use the ammenities...that was the point of the reservation! After numerous phone calls by at least 3 of us, we were offered a room upgrade or to reschedule. Neither of those options solves the problem. Then we were offered early check in...but that presents problems with child care issues and work schedules. Anyone with babies knows how hard it is to schedule a night out...let alone x4 mommies!! So the final kicker is that I posted my disappointment on their Facebook page in an attempt to see if some public pressure would help...my post was close to what I wrote in the first paragraph above. Nothing irrate; just my disappointment. That post, and the hotel's response, has been deleted. This further shows the lack of accountability of the Gaylord Texan for their poor choice of closing the pool. Did they seriously think people wouldn't be upset?? I'm sure our $400 reservation doesn't compare to whatever price they were paid for renting out the pool area but at least make it right!! At least acknowledge that we got the short end of the stick and be accountable...choices and consequences, Gaylord Texan! So mommies' night out did not happen...between work schedules, babies, heart surgery, etc this summer, I hope we can reschedule and that the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine will own up!

Wanted a Labor Day get-a-way and stayed here. Not worth the money. Room was dirty, kids everywhere, pool was a zoo and no seats anywhere. The room was a joke...the rooms on either side of ours could have very well been in ours. Absolutely NO insulation between walls. We could here normal conversations...and "Oh Baby...Oh Baby" all night long. Food was just OK. Best part of this hotel was the spa...and checking out...which meant we would never check back in! Don't waste your money or time staying at this over raided hotel. Go down the street..much nicer, cleaner and less expensive places to stay!

Came here for business so cost not directly out of my own pocket. Room was a standard American hotel room like Holiday inn or Days nothing special at all. Only difference is the cost a whopping $260 a night plus a $16 "resort" fee plus another $15.00 to park your car. Expect some of the parking charges in NY but not in Texas. Many other over priced shops and restaurants in the resort, some of the restaurants were actually quite poor, River side cafe for breakfast with stale bread and poor selection for around $20 per person. The Texan station was OK but not as good as most TJ Fridays. The Old Hickory steakhouse was very overpriced, the food was just average, not as good as a Outback Steakhouse and the service was slow and sloppy. The room maid service was also quite poor with lack of soap and shampoo. On a number of occasions the hot water was barely warm. I was often woken but noise from adjoining rooms with flushing toilets, showers, TV's and slamming doors. There are a good number of shops and restaurants away a mile or two from the Gaylord Texan which I found to be quite good. Clearly they are trying to present the image of "class" like the Hilton by rip off high prices, in my view have failed. From my 30 years of traveling to the US the image of American Hotels are one of good basic comfort and reasonable prices, this hotel in my view is a complete rip off. I will be returning to Texas with my family soon for a vacation but never to the Gaylord Texas and I will warn my friends. It also seem that talking with my American colleagues they were charged a much lower rate. In my view a top rate of $100 a night is all is worth.

The rooms are bigger and of better quality at Comfort Suites and at 1/2 the price also when we checked into our room there was a pair of dirty womens underwear in our room. Most of the staff hardly ever smiles and the food is over priced and I could cook a better meal using a cast iron skillet on a camp fire but if it is a status place you want to go then this is probably the place to go it is all show and no go.

This statement is totally true from the moment you drive down the 2 mile entrance driveway to this mammoth resort. The architecture is amazing with replicas of the Alamo and Riverwalk and a HUGE atrium that is quite impressive. The sports bar, Texas Station, is like being in Vegas at a sportsbook with its 150 foot TV... yes, foot not inch!!! There is a nice cigar bar attached to this baby and the employees are great. Rooms are spacious and very homey. Beds are very comfortable and temperature control is perfect. This hotel is top notch. Plus, every bartender in the lobby bar has implants and they are quite impressive. Jenni in the sports bar is cute and very friendly. Great time!

I am sitting with my husband tonight watching I Love You, Man; being a great movie it strikes a bad memory of this hotel. I was on my honeymoon with my husband and we were looking for a nice place to stay because we had tickets to see Chelsea vs Team America. The Dallas Cowboys Stadium recommends this spot on their website so we went to check it out. The resort is beautiful and we were able to get a room which was nothing special to talk about. We left to go see the practice session the day before the game. When we returned we went to eat at the steakhouse inside the resort and we really enjoyed the lobster bisque. After our day was going well and we were enjoying our special week we went back up to our room to watch a movie provided by the resort to order. You can guess what movie we picked. Well it was late and my husband and I were laughing because we were watching a comedy. Well, one of the neighbors called security on us. The security guy was extremely rude and told my husband when he answered the door to turn down the movie and if there was anyone in the room that was not permitted to leave. He was accusing us of having a group of people in our room. We could only assume he was thinking we came from the nightclub they have in the resort but we did not even go there on our trip. Why provide a movie you can't even enjoy and threaten us with a warning and the next time we would be kicked out... for WATCHING A MOVIE! I would not recommend this place because you can't enjoy all of it.

This place is beautiful. Well maintained and clean. I did not have a problem with noise and my view was wonderful. The food was excellent and reasonable in price. I have no compliants. I was there thru Maximum Sports Connection, to see the Cowboys, so I did not pay the hotel directly.
