Stunning hotel

We visited Rome in early October, the perfect time of year in my opinion. We encountered no rain and it wasn't cold at all, just beautiful sunny skies.
What I liked most about this hotel is that along with being opulant and gorgeous, it is also part of the history and architecture that we came to Rome to see!
Plesae do not mis the Diocletian bath ruins in the basement of the hotel. No on told us about them, we accidently went to the basement floor on the elevator and to our surprise, when we started to exit the elevator the floor in front is transparent! you can see right down to the archeological studies going on below!. follow the corridor around to the business meeting room and your'll see that the entire floor below the conference table is also tranparent and because it is lighted from below, you can see where the ancient baths were.
The rooftop view was breathtaking, the pool was out of service, but we didn't care, we didn't come to Rome to swim. From this hotel is is walking distance to the Coliseum and a few other surrounding sights. Being Americans and our first time in Rome, we werre a bit timid about finding a restaurant, but if you go to the left out of the front door, around the corner and to the end of the block, there is a very nice, friendly, clean cafe that has wonderful sandwiches and pastas. The people working there are so nice and considerate.
We had a room in the old part of the hotel, so no view. But the room itself was remarkable with the ancient timbers forming the sloping ceilings, and the ornate fixtures were very beautiful.
I would definately stay here if I ever get a chance to come back to this magnificent city.
