The Village is a place to skip
By peters, 5/10/11
Seemed incredibly disorganized. No parking (forced to use valet). Long walk to beach up and down stairs. Dining at beach understaffed---waited 15 minutes to order 45 minutes for food. Hot water kept going off at morning shower. Room must have had 20 pillows on the 2 beds--looked nice but difficullt to put away for sleeping. This was all for 329 a night. Need I say more

Waiting to go back:)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/25/09
My Family has been to SC and the Boardwalk Inn every year for the past 6-7 years and will keep going back:) We have never had "bad" service from anyone employed there and have even had staff go out of their way to make our stay even more enjoyable than expected! Our rooms have always been clean, staff pleasant and helpful and the hotel itself has always been immaculate. I have recomended this hotel to friends who have visited and came back feeling the same way:)

Don't Waste Your Time or Money!!!
By JuninperB, 8/18/08
From looking at the webpage you'd think this is five star kinda place...Not! Being on the beach in Charleston, SC is great but the Boardwalk Inn and the staff leave much to be desired. The appearance of the Inn was a little rundown. When you pay $300 a night you expect big things. Not slow elevators and walls that need patching and painting. The killer is that a member of the staff signed for my lost luggage and didn't even bother to deliver to me/ my room. My entire 2 day vacation was spent with me looking for my lost luggage which had been signed for by a Wild Dunes staff member who didn't even care enough to deliver it. I must have called them a million times looking for my bag. It was only when I gave them a name of the person that signed for my bag that it was delivered. To make matters worst, I complained to the mananger and he could care less also. Folks, don't waste your time going to this place. It won't leave up to your expectations.

Suites yes, Guest Room no
By HP family, 7/23/08
The village suites are very nice! We stayed in the one bedroom suite and it had an ocean view, granite counters in the kitchen and bathroom, hardwood floors in the kitchen and sitting area, huge bathroom, and much much more. It was very clean. We stayed in a guest room at the village when we first arrived, but it was not very clean. We later moved to the suite and it was amazing.

Charleston-yes...Wild Dunes-NO
By B, 6/9/08
We just checked out on 6/4/08. The Village was new but oh so many problems! The air conditioner blew out when the stove was on and took 2 hrs. to be put back on. The fixtures were not put together properly and screws fell out and things didn't work. The inner doors closed but did not lock. Supplies had to be asked for one at a time. All concerns were given to the front desk but just written down for someone else. NIGHTLY room rate was 346.50 + 22.52 state sales tax + 17.33 Accommodation Tax + 13.86 Resort Fee + 1.00 Charleston destination fee. No the place was NOT worth the money. Family member could not get on the grounds until I came down to request they be let through the gate. Breakfast for 4 was 73.00. Prices noted in the binder in the rooms were not priced the same as in the restaurant. There were many other places around the same destination that looked better.

Nice room-bad service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/29/08
I stayed in The Village twice in the spring '08. For the first stay the room was very nice except for the toilet that clogged. Repair man came, left a mess in the room with dirty towels, had to call a maid to come clean up the mess he made. The morning we left a maid came at 10 am to clean the room and told us 10 am was the checkout time and we needed to leave but we were told 11am was the checkout time. The second time I stayed, we were told we would have a condo w/ a full kitchen, bedroom, and a living room w/ a foldout sofa. Upon arrival it was a regular hotel room-no kitchen, double beds. They moved us up to a room w/ a king bed and small kitchen-a tiny refrigerator and no bedroom-just a kitchen, small bath and a king bed. Although they booked us for the wrong thing (their mistake) they charge an extra $100 for the upgrade even though it was their fault we got the wrong room in the first place. Some of my friends also had problems checking in even though their names were given at the front entrance.

OUTSTANDING!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/07
There were six people in our party. We stayed in a beach front home. It was immaculent. We were aware of the beach erosion on the Links Course and played the other course. The course we played was very well maintained and an excellent challenge. The service and food in the restaurants was excellent. We all had a great time.

Villas are awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/25/07
I called the resort to book a room, and they steered me to the "villas" which are some sort of beach condo rooms they rent out around the resort. Well, I'm here now, and boy I wish I had gone somewhere more upscale. From the bleach stains on the carpet, to the popcorn ceilings, to the badly patched holes in the bathroom walls (along with some sort of yellow crust also on a bathroom wall), to the dirty linens and the plastic faux-wicker furniture, I'm just not liking it. Apparently the beach is dangerous here, so dangerous that the resort is telling me to go to another part of the island "during high tide" if I want to go to the beach. Maybe this is because of the severe beach erosion that other reviewers have mentioned? I don't know, but that sort of makes the beach-side villa not so beach-side. And yes, there really are stray cats wandering around the resort. This feels like the kind of place that college kids go on spring break rather than a place for adults (even with kids in tow). I am thankful that I'm only going to be here for a weekend.

Will not go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/23/07
The area is beautiful and the location of the villa was perfect. The service left much to be desired. Air conditioning was completely out, not repaired the entire time and and no offer to be moved to a comparable place. 2 window units were installed for the 3 floors - very uncomfortable with heat indexes of 110 degrees. Housekeeping service was bare minimum and security was non-existent. Will return to Isle of Palms, but never at Wild Dunes.
