Bedbugs

We checked into the hotel in the morning-small and sparse room but adequate. We didn't go back until late in the evening and went right to bed. In the middle of the night we awoke and little bugs were crawling everywhere. In the morning (we should have gone down in the middle of the night) we showed the manager the dead bugs we had killed in kleenex. There were blood stains in all the bugs. He gave us a much nicer room on the top floor but we had to examine our clothes and get the bugs out. It was horrid. We did not see anymore bugs during our stay (but I now know you usually don't see bedbugs unless there is a major infestation as in the first room) BUT when I got home, I started getting these itching bites. I went on the internet, did some research and learned these were bedbugs! The welts from the bugs can appear 9 days after the bite (which is why I had no itching in Nice; we were only there 4 nights) And, I learned that bedbugs lay eggs on suitcases, clothes and it takes about 7days for the eggs to hatch. Travelers bring them into their homes on suitcases and the eggs hatch in their homes. I have been to Europe many times and I never knew what a bedbug was; I had never seen a bedbug in my life; I had no idea how horribly hard these bugs are to exterminate (I am still spraying, washing, calling exterminators... ) I now know more than most anyone about bedbugs ( which I won't go into). I have written to the hotel several times; they knew what these bugs were and never warned me about isolating my suitcase, clothes, etc. when I returned home. I have asked for a refund but no response...Bedbugs are one of the worst things. Believe me, you do not want to take the risk of staying here and being haunted by these nasty monsters.
