Park Hyatt Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires

At US$770 a day, we spent 70 hours in late November 2007 at the Park Hyatt Buenos Aires Palacio Duhau where the cartoonish service was inexcusable at these rates. Our "Park Hyatt Deluxe Suite King", while nicely furnished, had a sitting area in an attic space. The "butler" service was a joke as she vanished after initial introductions. Tango and polo sessions booked through the hotel left us waiting up to 1-1/2 hours in the lobby as the staff bumbled through their mess. It took 3 calls over 90 minutes, to finally have someone help us open a window shade (at 11 AM!). A call about a hotel safe malfunction alarmed us, but oops! they had the wrong room. Clothes left hanging at the room door in the laundry bag were found unlaundered and crumpled in the same bag on a bureau the next day. Complaints to the manager got us apologies and thanks for the "constructive feedback" but nothing else. The last outrage was when check-out was ungraciously extended by a half hour, instead of the hour requested. Even John Cleese (and the elegant architecture) couldn't save this Fawlty Tower. For half the rate, you'll get better rooms and service at the Four Seasons or the Intercontinental, where we had had reservations on the Club Floor for US$365 (includ tax) per night! We know better for next time. New York City.
