Great Family Get Away!
By Michael, 1/25/10
Having been to the Hyatt Hill Country, we decided to check this one out for a change. A great stay was expected and was received. We stayed in a sweet that was well worth the value. We also signed up for the concerige room which was a long walk from my room which was on the other side of the hotel. The lazy river will be filled with kids, but that is to be expected. Great value and a great family destination. One weird thing was that some body presumeably witht he same name, somehow got checked into the same room so at one point, another man opened our room door to both of our surprise.

Pay close attention to the bill
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/10/09
This resort was very nice. The employees were very helpful and friendly. However, we were overcharged at every turn and to date we have not received an adjustment. The folks in the accounting department could take a lesson from the other guest services.

Great resort for hikers
By Diane Bradley, 7/3/09
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon last October. The weather was perfect. There is a long "decompression" drive to get into the resort that is really nice. We saw roadrunners, box turtles, turkey buzzards and TONS of armadillos. In fact, there were armadillos all over the place near the resort. Our room had a view of one of the two butterfly gardens. Every morning we drove into downtown Bastrop to have breakfast at Maxines on Main, then strolled the gardens taking pictures of flowers, butterflies, catterpillars, and dragonflies. The restaurant was very good but a little pricey for us every night, so we did some exploring in Bastrop, which I recommend. There is enough to do at the resort that you wouldn't have to leave, but there are plenty of other things to see in the area. The room was absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. The Eucalyptus-mint soap & shampoos were great. Everything was clean and nice. There's a small gift shop on the 1st floor that sells coffee, pastries, and ice cream, also other sundry items. But the best part is that the resort is right on the Colorado River. There were tons of cows from neighboring ranches soaking themselves in the river. If you walk along the path that goes along the river, you enter the McKinney Roughs Nature park, which has miles of hiking trails. The park can be entered simply by walking there from the resort or by driving to the main entrance and trailheads next door on the highway. We saw armadillos, blue heron, and deer while hiking--we also saw mountain lion tracks! One note--the actual "Lost Pines" are in the Bastrop State Park a few miles away (you have to drive). They've planted some little pine trees in the resort area, but there are no old ones. However, there is plenty of natural beauty in the resort. We enjoyed our stay very much. We live in the DFW area, and the resort is a beautiful getaway that's not to far away from us.

Gracious service and wonderful spa
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/1/09
We visited off season on a mini-vacation midweek. It was very quiet. The staff were all very kind and helpful and went out of their way to assist us and answer questions. The spa was fabulous and spacious. The food was good but there wasn't much variety since it was the off season. Restaurants were limited to one on the resort. Lots of wildlife to see which was different from our northern New York state backyards. Austin and Bastrop are some distance from the resort. This is a luxury resort. We had no issues about costs and received the level of service we expected from this type of hotel. Highly recommend this Hyatt.

HYATT LOST PINES NIGHTMARE
By wkndtripper, 11/17/08
I arrived to have the front desk blurt out a price that was way above the price confirmed and charged to me. It was my husbands birthday SURPRISE. I had to then ask her about this amount after he walked away. I had booked the raft tour online on a different credit card and received a confirmation for $55 for two people on the TWO HOUR SUNSET RAFT TOUR. Described much differently than it actually ended up being. Found out the charge was for $40 per person. I didn't question this at the time, because it was my husbands birthday. We got onto the Hyatt Shuttle only to be informed that we were on our way to a ONE HOUR raft tour. Got onto a raft to float a calm dirty river covered in water bugs and our views were of older homes in horrible condition with animal traps. The tour ended 30-40 minutes later we were complete with our $80 tour without an explanation of why and dumbounded. I was very embarassed that I had chosen for us to spend his weekend this way. So, we headed for the hotel store and ate our stale ice cream cones. We did not have cell phone service at this hotel. We each have different providers. We needed to call a friend in Austin 15 minutes away, but were unable to on our cell phones. I read the Hyatt book, and realized that a local call is .50 cents. So, we made his two 5 minute telephone calls. Within the last 5 minutes of our stay, the fire alarm at the hotel went off. No instructions to exit the building, the sound was so loud we were forced to our patios in the 30 degree weather. I noticed that my checking account had two charges that were pending, neither charge matched up with what I had received on our invoice when leaving. However, the following day one charge cleared for a much higher amount and the other amount was still pending on my account. I had sent the concierge service an email questioning the raft tour and the charges and the length of the tour and still have not heard back. I called again and was transferred to accounting. She informd me that the charge was for the hotel, raft tour, and lunch. She then went on to attempt to transfer me to concierge to ask the rafting question. In the meantime, I noticed that my charges did not add up to the amount that I was charged and questioned it. She informed me that it included the two phone calls. In my mind, it still was not calculating how could two 50 cent telephone calls compensate for the additional amount so I asked how much the telephone calls were. $20.03 for one and $29.57 for the other. Remember this was for two phone calls less than five minutes each to Austin, 15 minutes away. We are not in another country or time zone! I was furious. I demanded to speak to a manager and she silenced for 10 seconds and then informed me that management was in a meeting. I told her that she did not even check and she said she already told me that they were unavailable and I said that I never asked for management. She began arguing with me and placed me on hold abruptly. Another woman, got onto the telephone and refused to allow me to speak and informed me that I am difficult. Question, aren't I the customer? Aren't you the one that is being rude? Of course, I am upset about this transaction. Do you expect a calm soothing customer? I would warn against this hotel...the other reviews that I have read are about the overcharging of customers, double charging credit cards. I am still waiting for the other pending charge to "fall off" my banking statement. The additional information that they fail to inform you is that they charge the activities twice and that the pending charges will stay on your account for an additional 5-7 days - even the full charges have already been deducted and cleared from my account. HORRIBLE HOTEL, EXPENSIVE, FRADULENT DESCRIPTIONS OF THEIR ACTIVITIES, , NO CELL SERVICE AND OVERCHARGING FOR PHONE CALLS. DON'T GO! MY HUSBAND AND I HUMMED THE THEME SONG FOR DELIVERANCE ON OUR WAY OUT OF THERE!

Great Hotel! Very pet friendly! But the food...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/27/08
This was my second stay at the resort first time was on business...with an expense account. Beautiful property, pool is awesome and the lazy river is huge, food is mediocre and very, very expensive for what you get! 14-17$ for breakfast! Highly recommend the green chili mac and cheese at shellers but was unfortanately the best thing we had during our stay... Very kid friendly making it a little noisy at the restraunts and pool, but the staff and incredibly good service quality helps to balance out the screaming kids. Our schnauzer loved it, the grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed awesome walks every morning.

Be very carefull with your personal belongings.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/7/08
The caddie stole my Cartier watch from the golf cart, nobody cares about it, even the manager, just a "we will call you" "I promise we will find it" and nothing happened, I'm still waiting since may 2008.

Nice place, but got overcharged-
By kasied, 5/13/08
We loved the food and the atmosphere, but the place is way to expensive. We booked our room for two nights online and paid in advance. On checkout day we got our final bill and they didn't deduct the amount I paid online when I initially booked the room. When we got home and checked the account we see that they charged our account $4600 when it should have only been $1700 total!! I'd like return, but am too wary about having my credit/debit card on file with this charge happy resort! Also, there was a spider in our bed upon arrival and if you're allergic to down bedding beware!

Peaceful & beautiful resort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/12/07
The grounds of this resort are beautiful - we enjoyed walking along the river. Our room was very comfortable - nice sheets and comforter. The food was good - service at breakfast was so-so, kind of slow. Overall - great place, very relaxing.
