Absolute Disgust!!!
By Keke, 7/30/11
I am going to start by saying this hotel stay ruined my birthday. I booked this hotel to stay in for the weekend after a cruise I had taken. Cruise was lovely....hotel was HORRIBLE! First off, they only offer valet parking which we were prepared for....when we pulled up there was a small table with an umbrella that said valet and there was NO VALET attendant for about 15 minutes....then they were under construction so you couldn't even enter through the front door....I was directed around to a side door. Upon entrance I saw nothing but yellow caution tape and wet paint signs everywhere and half the floor was ripped up. We made our reservations 2 months early and was assured that we would be able to check in early for an add'l $25. The front desk attendant advised me that we could not check in early because there were no rooms available so we had to drive around miami for about 3 hours until the normal check in time. When we got back, check in took over an hour. The reservations somehow were messed up so we ended up having to get 4 rooms instead of 2 and they werent even all together so we had to split up. The attendant swiped my card so many times that the bank put a fraud hold on it so I had to call the bank in the middle of check in to clear things up. Finally we get our keys and we get on the elevator....I was in a party of 5....so the elevator door closes, we push the button for our floor....we wait for a few moments and the doors open again only to reveal that we are still on the 1st floor. At this point I don't want to die so I opt to take the stairs for the remainder of the stay. We get to our rooms and discover there is something not working in each and every one of them....toilet didnt work in one, the sink was stopped up in another, one had some type of foreign bug, and the last one the key card didnt work consistently. The halls were DARK and there was a "wet carpet" smell in the rooms. The ice machines also didnt work. One of my party members had to be relocated to another room. We went to go see the pool which looked awesome online....the pool actually was not even big enough to swim in...it was more like a hot tub w/ no bubbles...you just had to sit in it and it didnt hold anymore than 6-8 ppl. When we complained the concierge's exact words were "oh, we have a good photographer".....WOW! After that we decide to go enjoy the free cocktail hour that is advertised on the website....only to find that it is only vodka mixed drinks that you can drink and the cups are the size of shot glasses and you can only get 1 at a time. We did manage to get some free club passes from the concierge so we go upstairs to get dressed and there is NO HOT WATER!!! Not in one or two rooms...no hot water in the whole entire building! I called down to complain and the response I got was "someone is working on it". I continued to call periodically getting more irritated with each call until finally about 2 hours later the hot water was working. By then it was too late to get into the club for free and I was so irritated that I didnt even want to go out. We did attempt to go out but decided we were all just too angry with the events of the day so we decided to just go back to the rooms. When I got back I discovered that my TV too did not work. I just went to sleep and the next morning we all decided that for the price that we were paying this was totally unacceptable and we went down to the front desk and demanded we be allowed to check out and refused to pay! They promptly checked us out and didnt even fight us on it which lets me know that they also know that the issues there are unacceptable. We went home 2 days early and I had a horrible birthday. Quite honestly this experience has turned me completely off the entire city of Miami, FL so I will not be going back ever. I suggest that if you are visiting you stay as far away from this hotel as humanly possible!!!!

Stay Away
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/15/11
I recently stayed at the New Clinton Hotel from June 8-June 12. I reserved two balcony rooms and I was extremely disappointed with the entire experience. The first issue that my friends and I ran into was the fact that the hotel was nothing like what the internet described. I was under the impression that we were going to check into this hotel that was really nice, but when we arrived at the hotel we were overwhelmed by air freshner and incents. It was ridiculous. On top of that when we went into our rooms, the first room which over looked the fountain was extremely small. There was no iron in the room, the bed was really small, the shower leaked, the mini wet bar did not get cold, bo cd player and there were burned iron impressions in the carpet. In the second room that we reserved, there was not even a wet bar in it, they had to bring one in. On top of that the pool that they mentioned on the website was so small that no more than 10 people could stand in it. There was no way anyone would be able to swim in it because the pool was not longer than 12 feet at the most. When we went to the front desk to express our concern, we recieved this blank stare and the clerk at the desk told me that we could upgrade to a loft for an extra $30 a day?? I asked what the procedure was for recieveing a refund because I was not satisfied with the hotel at all. She told me that there would be a hold on my card for about 7 days and because I went through Bookit.com, I would have to find out what their procedure was. Since I was stuck in this situation with a hold on my card, I tried to make the best of it until, on day two after housekeeping came in to clean the room, some of our personal items came up missing. When it was reported to the front desk, they said that they would check into it but we never heard anything back from them, not even nothing from management. From that point on we decided not to use housekeeping anymore because something else might come up missing. Om top of that I guess the hotel is still under rennovation, because everymore we woke up to hammering, drills and banging. The hotel as a whole is NOTHING like what they described on the website. It is very misleading. For the price that this hotel charges I would expect alot more but I was extremely disappointed in this hotel and will NEVER stay there again.

The Clinton Hotel- Beyond Disgusting!!!!
This is a story of a horrible vacation plannng site, CHEAPTICKETS. COM and the hotel from Hell"Clinton" they placed us in!!! This story takes place over a period of 4 days and 3 nights! We paid over 1,800.00 for this vacation!! Friends and I booked a complete vacation package through Cheaptickets.com. The staff advised us to book with the Clinton Hotel in South Beach, Florida. Citing it was a great place to stay, centrally located, and close to the beach. We were given mis-information. We visited the website, which made the hotel look amazing. They even put supposed hot gossip about the "Kardashians"and other famous visitors on the website! They led us to believe that it was a modern hotel that was very classy and clean! When we arrived, all we saw was a broken down dimly lit hotel whose time had certainly passed!Let me begin about how much these people are false advertizing! They advised us that we could have adjoining rooms, they lied! The staff treated us like they were doing us a favor by letting us stay there! Upon being let into our first room, there was an unmistakable smell of mildew and musty carpeting, and our front door lock did not completely lock. We then asked to be changed to a different room. There were 5 of us in our party and we did not wish to be on separate floors. We were advised that if we changed rooms that our party would have to be separated, because the hotel did not have 2 new rooms on the same floor. When we arrived at the second room, The sink did not work properly and drained very slowly and the carpet had stains! We could barely open the windows because they were off the track and the shade was broken, which remained half opened at all times leaving us vulnerable to sunlight early in the morning!!!! The other scary thing that then happened, was that our other friend's room had a broken toilet that came apart when sat on! They were not big people either! They had to then switch rooms also. Ironically their room ended up being directly across the hall from our new room, which we had earlier been told they didn't have 2 rooms available next to each other! We tried to resolve the issues with the concierge and they were uncaring and cold!We called Cheaptickets.com and told them that we wanted to switch hotels so we would need a refund or transfer of our already completely paid for sum of monies! We were notified that we would receive a refund within 5 days, but that for now we would have to find a new hotel and pay out of pocket for the rest of the trip! We advised them that we did not have enough funds to pay for a second trip! We even appealed to the management early the next morning! He advised us that he knew nothing of our problems and that he wanted to help. He then also advised us that he would be charging us for the night that we had stayed, but that he wanted to see that we were happy. He said that he would take a look at our account and see what discount he could offer. He told us he would need a little time, so we agreed to use the quickly fleeting time to go to the beach! Earlier we had been given oversized bath towels for the beach, they also offered us portable chairs, to which we asked staff to please make sure that they were in working order. We had to carry the chairs to the beach. Upon arriving at the beach, we unpacked the chairs and found that 1 one was broken, so i ended up having to rent one for 12.oo. Upon returning from the beach we went to the front desk to inquire as to what discount the manager had given us. We were informed that he had credited us 7.00 for 3 days which came to 21.00! We were livid! We complained to Cheaptickets.com and the management, but no one would help us! I then advised Cheaptickets that I would write a scathing review about "Them" and the "Clinton" and their handling of the situation! I DIDN'T LIE!!

Stay away if you can!!!
By BC, 11/2/09
Stayed for three nights..Miami is great but this hotel does not stack up. The bar and restaurant in the hotel are closed and the hotel looks like it will soon join them in vacancy. Our room was full of curious stains on the curtains and comforter. The grout in the bathroom's was completely failing. All the furnishing and construction detail's are cheap cheap cheap. Rooms and hallways are not well lit for a reason. Walls are supper thin. We completely heard conversations going on in the room next door that we shouldn't have. Luckily the guy on stayed for a night. Wireless internet did not work for 2 of the 4 days we were there and staff did not seem to care. Luckily we were on the 1st floor because every morning the elevator out of order sign was up. The staff was completely rude the 1st night we were there but got better. The 1st night consisted of the concierge walking in on me changing as he attempted to check in guests to our room!! No apologies and we soon got a call from the front desk asking who we were and why we were in there. Again no sorry for the mishap. Later on in the night our rooms keys stopped working. Went to the front desk for help and the same cast of clown told us a "PLEASE" would be nice. I could not believe what I was hearing. I bit my lip and told them they were the two classiest people I have ever encountered. Luckily they did not return for the rest of the stay...Hotel is cheap for a reason. Good luck to anyone who takes the risk.

LIPSTICK ON A PIG!!!
By Tom Heim, 1/30/09
One might think the title of this review refers to the Clinton's General Manager. It is not, it refers to this small hotel attempting to be something it clearly is NOT! The bottom line is this hotel via its slick marketing attempts to be all things South Beach with New York cosmopolitan thrown in. The reality it is a poorly renovated 80 year old building. The owners spent their money on modern furnishings, paint, and modern paneling / décor, but ignored basic quality construction such as double pane windows. The lobby gives that allure of a modernistic, hedonistic night club with dim lighting. The dim lighting is a theme throughout the hotel, and one has to wonder that it is only to cover up the lack of quality cleaning by the staff. The hallways are black light dark 24 hours a day - so one wonders when they are actually cleaned. The rooms give one that feeling of entering a dorm room with spartan modern decores. The small full size bed was one of the most uncomfortable nights I have ever spent. Note to management - invest in a box spring. Mattress only beds for those older than teenagers are simply cheap and irrational. As I mentioned the window panes must be original from the 1940's. They are single pane monstrosities that let in EVERY exterior sound - from automobile traffic to drunks, and beggars bellowing below. Sounds from the hallways also enter the room way too easily. It's not a room to get good nights sleep. In the spirit of the hedonistic marketing, they have numerous 'sex goodies' for sale in the room. They are not cheap though, with a small chocolate syrup container for $15. From the name one might think this hotel is actually a fuller service Spa. Sorry, we only found a couple of 'treatment' rooms located on the bottom floor. Most Spas’ have a generous lap pool to relax by. This hotel has a 2.5 foot deep pool with waterfalls that can only be described as an adult wading pool. The small fitness room was useless. This certainly is NO SPA! The front desk staff was friendly, but many of the other employees including the valets spoke no English. We were promised a room with two beds, but upon our arrival were given just a single bed & nothing but "sorry" from the GM. We paid a price of $129 through Hotwire & they added a $27/day valet fee along with a $7/day fee (supposedly for wifi, pool, fitness center - none of which we used). Despite the location on South Beach - we felt ripped off by these charges for these accommodations. I cannot emphasize enough - go elsewhere. This hotel was rated a 3.5 star, but I have stayed at better 2 star establishments. This property should be torn down & rebuilt with a real hotel that does not insult South Beach.

WORST HOTEL EVER! STAY AWAY!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/17/08
For $220 a night, you would think that you could at least get a clean room (that doesn't smell like smoke) and a good night sleep. No such luck. We got a city-view room and you could hear EVERYTHING on Washington Street. All night there were sirens and brawls going outside; you can hear them as if you're LYING RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF IT! I left the next morning as quickly as possible. Would never, ever go back.

Clinton is a small trendy hotel with an ok location. The staff is nice and had good service. The rooms are a bit small and clean. TIP: For cheap food try Rustico Pizza!

Dont want to go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/10/07
I was disappointed with this hotel. Its suppose to be a 4 star and it was pricey; so I went along with it.But during my stay the first night they had to come up and fix the toilet; the water was coming up almost overflowing, that was nasty because there was more than pee in there. The third day we were given cheap towels that the material was coming off on your skin looking like lent. When I went to turn on the shower one day the handle came off in my hand. Now explain to me how can this be an 4 star hotel; tell me how many stars you think they deserve.
