Comfort is Priceless

My friends and I came here for our famed college spring break as seniors. My friend suggested this place after he stayed here a few years ago, so we trusted his judgment. However, I was rudely awakened when I arrived there. I stayed on the first floor with my friend, while my others received a room higher up. The first thing I noticed upon my initial inspection was that the front window closest to the door was unlocked and had no locking mechanism at all! This caused a great deal of concern with me because anyone from the exterior could simply slide the glass open and enter. I was fearful of not only for myself (since I slept right next to the window) but of my belongings as well. Another huge detriment was the design of the bathroom overall. The toilet is placed literally right next to where the shower door is and this creates a lack of room when sitting down to do your business on the toilet. You have to angle your feet away from the shower door area or else you can not properly sit down. It was just ridiculous as public restrooms I have visited at the airport and around Cabo San Lucas were more spacious and clean. Lastly, I believe that room service does not change your sheets at all. The first night I slept in that bed, I noticed a specific tear mark in the sheet near my head and took note of that. The next day when room service came in our room to "clean" I looked for that same exact mark in the sheets, and there it was! They appeared to have mopped the floor and only made my bed, but not change the sheets! I found this despicable and wondered if they only changed sheets in between guests. The only positive aspect of this place was that it was cheap, but honestly I would have paid a bit more for added comfort. The hotel offers no view at all, the room was not carpeted but tiled, we ran out of water for several hours once, and had a giant cockroach visit near my bed before bedtime. Needless to say, this place has cleanliness issues. I trusted my friend for a decent place to stay at in this "resort" area, but I was basically slapped in the face after facing all of these realities. If you are on a budget and don't mind bare bones living, then stay here. If you would like additional comfort and can afford it, by all means, avoid this place! I will not be returning to Villa La Paloma if I ever return to Cabo San Lucas!
