a comfortable, highly recommended hotel!!
By Dana Fortini, 7/23/09
I was quite impressed and very happy with my experience at the Hotel Fira Palace Barcelona. The check-in went smoothly, and all of the staff were extremely helpful. The room was extremely spacious and the bathroom was great because there were three of us sharing the room. The fitness center was actually a real gym, attached to the hotel, with multiple levels for the sauna and pool, weight room, and cardio room. It was by far the nicest fitness center I’ve ever had access to at a hotel. You do have to pay for an in-room internet connection though, which I found unusual for a four star hotel. Although breakfast is not included in the price of the stay at the hotel, it was by far one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had. It ranged in the same price as most upscale hotel breakfasts, but the selection and quality of the food available was excellent. The staff who work in the restaurant are also very friendly and accommodating. There is a taxi stand in front of the hotel, so guests will never have much difficulty with finding a taxi. The downside is that because the hotel is situated in the business district, that it can be a long walk to get to main attractions and you need to take public transportation or a taxi to the beach. The MNAC museum is not far from the hotel though, it is a very interesting and impressive attraction, and tickets are valid for two days. As an aside, one of the young women who worked in the restaurant told us that celebrities frequently stay at this hotel, I can definitely see why. It turns out Metallica was there at the same time I was! I would highly recommend the Hotel Fira Palace Barcelona for anyone looking to steer clear from the insanity that is Las Ramblas and would like modern amenities and a spacious room. The next time I’m in Barcelona, I’m booking here!

Worth the splurge!
Fira Palace was the last hotel stop for my husband and myself during a 10-day road trip through Spain. Our travel agent arranged the hotel for us as an experiment, since she hadn't been there herself but had heard rave reviews. We initially balked at the rate, but after looking at a map, the location really couldn't have been better: we parked the car at the hotel and walked everywhere we wanted to go. The room was very comfortable and quiet, which turned out to be a good thing since we both spent 24 hours in the room with food poisoning picked up somewhere along the way. The bathroom was fantastic, with probably the best shower my husband or I have ever had. Water pressure and temperature, multiple shower heads, a huge space...We still talk about that shower as the "ultimate." We almost decided to move our flight home back one day just for the chance to shower one more time. My only criticism: after leaving out the Do Not Disturb sign and calling housekeeping to ask that they please stop knocking at our door every 30 minutes, the knocks continued for another 90 minutes or so.

Friendly & at the same time a professional atmosphere.
By ..., 7/5/05
Fira Palace is within walking distance of everything, close to the magic fountains, Spanish Village & old town areas. We walked everywhere & rarely took a taxi, which by the way most of the time stated that their A/C was broken. We had a suite it was spacious, with a large living room TV in both bedroom & living room. Our bathroom had a separate shower cubicle, and another containing toilet & bidet, twin wash basins. Breakfast buffet was excellent with hot and cold choices, fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice. I specially loved the salmon & jamon Serrano Friendly & at the same time a professional atmosphere, very helpful personnel. Housekeeping always did an excellent job, not only with the room but also with our laundry. I called the bar a few times to have the same chocolate desert, to be served in our room at 10:30pm. My husband, son & I enjoyed our stay & would surely go back if the opportunity becomes available again. They were even more helpful when I had an accident 1/2 a block from the Hotel, this was on the last day of our stay, the Mgr. rushed to see what he could do to help & went looking for my husband who was attending a business seminar in one of the conference rooms, had a taxi waiting for him to go to meet me & pick up our son at the hospital. At 10:30pm when I got back I had a delicious dinner, along with desert served in our suite.
