Please Read before staying at Sandpiper Inn
On the internet, where I searched for a place to stay, Sandpiper Inn seemed to be a decent, pet friendly hotel from the pictures. My family and I had reserved 3 rooms that were to be close together if possible and manager, Rachel Patel stated, yes, if possible. The place was pretty well deserted except for the few "locals" who stay there. One room was upstairs, One in corner on first floor, and the third around back. (nowhere close). We had pets in 2 rooms and were told over the phone that they couldn't be in the kitchenette rooms. When we got our rooms, the animals had to be in the bottom floor (where the kitchenette was). The people staying in the hotel at the time were staring at us as if they were looking for valuables to steal at the right moment. The manager said that they were "locals" who stayed there after peak season. It looked as though we were watching America's Most Wanted in the parking lot. There were many people that came and went out of these motel rooms and seemed as though it were a drug ring. As soon as you walk in the room you feel dirty. The rooms smelled of dog urine and feces, the linens smelled like sewage and the beds, when reluctantly sat on almost touched the carpet, which looked as though it had never been cleaned. The dressers were falling apart, the furniture was filthy, the microwave was rusted, and the door to the motel room looked as though it had been broken into and you can see the outside through the crack. The frame, where the door latches,(it barely latches, by the way) was replaced with wood. There is no bolt lock on the door whatsoever. The so called "kitchenette" was barely big enough to move around in and had one little light to see by (probably so you couldnt see the mess). The stove quit working, so the "fix-it" man came, pulled the stove out (along with cigarette butts, years worth of dirt, and other nasty things), and attempted to fix it while smoking a cigarette of his own. When he couldnt entirely fix it he had the nerve to bring a deep fryer which had used oil in it and the outside had dirt, hairs, etc. caked on it like it had been there for months(and expected us to actually eat out of it)! We left shortly after that (had been there maybe 2 or 2 1/2 hours) We packed what few things we had unpacked to cook and asked for a refund. Management said that the room needed to be spruced and refused to give us the money back for that night. My family and I have been to many run-down hotel/motel rooms, but this one surpasses them all. It is the filthiest, trashy place we have EVER stayed in. I would not recommend this hole in the wall to anyone. No family, especially ones with small children should stay here.
