Hotel Montego, Montego Bay

I liked the price, the privacy, the care given by the staff (at the front desk), and mostly the location. The hotel is directly across from the Montego Bay Airport and right down the street from the Beaches. There are lots of dining and entertainment spots in the area. On the down side its not the 4/5 star setting that I'm used to in the states (bugs in the area). However Hotel Montego is truly my choice for Mobay.

Staff was friendly, great location very close to the airport. we walk down the hill and in 2 min we get a standard taxi cab to take us to the town, disadvantage coming back we paid a little extra to take us back to the hotel.The cost was reasonable. Very cozy place, not very quiet because of the airplanes,my husband and i both enjoy sitting on the porch and watch the plane coming and going.The price was reasonable for a standard room and free shuttle to the airport.I paid in Jamaica and i save $40 JA dollar,because their price for 1US to 1 JA was different from outside.I problem i found there was mosquitoes i left a window open, not a good idea, keep all doors and windows close.

What I liked: clean room with hot water for a decent price, close to airport. For a "gypsy" traveller like me, it's just fine. Internet worked fine. What I disliked: Parking can be limited when the hotel is full, like say during Sumfest, which is when I went.

We stayed at Hotel Montego with a group of 47 on a mission trip and very well taken care of. The staff is excellent, the accomodations are clean and the food they cooked for us was very good. The view from the rooms is beautiful and we can't wait to go back again next year. Thank you to all the staff at Hotel Montego!

The staff was very friendly and if you like home style accommodation? this is the place to go. Its very cozy and I have already booked a return visit.

The General Manager Beverly Sharpe and the Owner Noel Vickers has no respect for staff and visitors alike. No one should visit there and no one should work there. The place has run down, plus no one gives a jack shit about u there. People there are other small hotels in close proximity to the airport other than Hotel Montego. U can see that the staff really want to do their jobs and if given the opportunity they will deliver great service, but that hag of a GM who is mostly at the front desk treat them like crap. I can't stress this anymore, please don't think you'll be treated any different than the staff because you're paying, to those people you're just another ass wipe. I won't ever go back! The place is not worth my time or money. I demand respect wherever I go and u should too. I give respect and I expect it back in return. Don't sacrifice your self dignity and worth just for a great view.

Clean and cosy great price i stayed three nights while attending a function in mobay the staff was great, nice place to watch the planes come and go if you dont mind the noise. I will be back this december.

These people have no idea what the hospitality business is about! The staff is not welcoming! The older woman sitting behind the desk at the entrance has the personality of a turd!

I have noticed that from the earlier reviews that Hotel Montego has made some drastic changes. We were at group of 27 from Canada on a humanitarian trip to Jamaica. Our budget was limited and so for the value of what we got, it was great!! Our hosts were very very accommodating, kind, and helpful. They were courteous and helpful in many of the situations we were in. The view of the airport, sunset, and beach were very very nice. Since most airplanes only take off and land during the the day, it was not too bothersome at night as there weren't any that came in or left during the sleeping time. The food was decent. We traveled with mostly youth, and every night, most of them went back for seconds, or thirds. This was a very safe location as both entrances were gated and not near any of the activities that could present a danger to anyone. I would highly recommend this place to other groups as this was a very very good experience overall. We will definitely be back! Thank you to all who helped us along!

The property have run down a lot throughout the years when I last visited in 2009. the staff are not that helpful nor did they looked pleased to be serving me and my family. there was this one security I think was named Willis, that was the only person who knew what service was about, he dealt with us in a very respectful way, not as if we were robots but as if we were human beings and that goes a long way when you consider common courtesy and just being an outstanding person. But other than that. The rooms are not clean, the pool needs cleaning as the owner refuses to have it drained and cleaned because he says it is too expensive that way and I have been staying here for four days now and chemicals have been added in the pool every night with no change in the the dark brown color of the water including the sediments at the bottom of the pool. the second morning that I was here there was even roaches passing through the restaurant as if it was somewhere they are use to being on a regular bases. My honest opinion: Good tasting food, Great view, cheap stay, but everything else just falls flat, no good service or people to administer good service. Thank you Willis you were very courteous, kind and straight forward. Hotel Montego could use you as a marketing agent they are wasting your talents.
