Lieber Haven Marina Resort, Olga

The people who run the place, the insects, the dirt, and the amenities are nearly as frightening as the prices...on some other sites I've seen the owners writing vengeful comments about guests who were critical. I wnder if the positive comments are also written by the owners, their family, and their staff...beware.

We were assured our cabin would comfortably sleep 4 adults. The double hide a bed's frame was broken, it's mattress so old that we had to pull the couch cushions off and sleep on the floor. The other person had only the floor. The offer of a joke of a rollaway bed the next night and a fold out pad was futile as well. We could not stay the third night. We were charged not only for the canceled night, but a total of 680.00. It was a terrible experience. $165.00 a night for 2 people on a dirty floor for 2 nights, one we didn't use, is an expensive mistake! They are supposedly deducting the overcharge, but refuse to give a refund for the unused 3rd night due to their cancelation policy of 10 days notice, even though the reality didn't match what was offered. Orcas island is a wonderful place, this establishment gives it a bad reputation.

We are so glad we stayed here, this is a very special place, the beach cottage and the studio we rented, are perfect, charming, cozy and clean, infact we have been lucky enough to add a few more days to our stay. We all love Lieber Haven, our techie boys love the free hi speed wifi and kayaking the bay and tidepools. We will be back, and bring more family and friends, A beautiful view, beach, and comfy lodging for us to enjoy our family and friends.

Glad I did not heed a few of the reviews, Lieber Haven Resort is wonderful, a perfect place to relax and getaway in a comfy beach cottage, warm cottage. The resort is not a brand new place, the resort has history and that is why it is still a resort, due to all the people who love the place, I can see why folks return every year, I will, this truly is alittle slice of heaven and Not dirty at all, the fact is I wonder how they manage to keep lodgings so clean when I see how some people leave the places, are wet from swimming on the beach, then plop down on the velvet chairs, which you would never know about, because they clean it so well, they even manage to get all the sand off the floors and carpet. Kudos to the Lieber Haven Folks.

The owners tried hard to appear friendly, however the rest of the experience was generally unpleasant. We have stayed in hotels and resorts internationally. Compared to even the worst one star hotels, the level of cleanlines and overall quality was well below average. For example, mold grew on the woodwork around the cramped shower, various items did not work correctly, amenities were few, and the service level was low. It did not meet our expectations - especially for the price. Please take heed of the negative reviews on this and other sites. While it might be possible to enjoy a stay at Lieber Haven if extreme quaintnes, a desire for primitive accomodations, and the "homey" quality of the atmosphere outweigh all other considerations. Otherwise, beware and have a back up plan - and look before you sign.

Although the person who ran this place was friendly, it was probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, especially for $145/night! There was no A/C, no fan, and no breeze (the air's stagnant in the hotel's location). The bed was soft and very uncomfortable, the room was very small and cramped, and the water pressure was weak. I slept very poorly. The location was way at the other end of the island from the ferry. No amenities whatsoever besides some watery coffee in the common room in the morning. If this wasn't one of the last available rooms on the island, I would've refused to stay there!

We are staying at Lieber Haven Resort now. We wish we could stay longer than a week, we will be back every year, like many of their guest do. Lieber Haven Resort is a piece of heaven! We are staying in apt.#5. We had read negative about this apt. on another travel site, and are glad we choose to book anyway, because the negative review is completely untrue! Our apt. interior is beautiful wood inside with huge opening bay windows, large stove, oven, fridge, glass front antique style hutch, the bed in the bedroom is one of the most comfortable beds we have slept on, and we are only about 25ft. from a real, sandy beach. We just love this small resort! While exploring Orcas Island, we saw several of the other places we almost booked, and are so very glad we stayed at Lieber Haven Resort, we can see why so many of their guest return every year. The owners are wonderful people, very helpful, you can see they like what they do, and enjoy answering all our questions about the islands. Go kayaking there, several business we called before we booked, even the famous gourmet dining restaurant reccommended us to kayak at Lieber Haven Resort, it is true that their is no better place around Orcas Island to go kayaking, or to stay! Lieber Haven has quaint, comfortable cottages, apts, studios and very beautiful themed rooms.

The people who run this place are very nice, homey people. Unfortunately, they have no idea of what they should be doing with this place. It needs a good cleaning, a coat of paint and some upgrading with regard to indoor and outdoor furniture. It's like going to your grandparent's cabin at the lake. The location and the view are good -- the view could improve if some of the derelict boats with tarps on them were hauled away. Seems like this is more of a budget-y type place that would appeal to young 20-somethings with little money. This could be a gem with an investment of about 50,000.

We loved our stay at Lieber Haven. Its a little rustic, but absolutly wonderfull. The people who own and run the resort are great, friendly people. They made us feel like part of the family. This is a great place to excape the daily hussle and rush hour traffic. You can just sit back and relax, and enjoy the people you're with. No loud traffic, sirens, and city noise, just a peacefull vacation. I can't wait to stay there next year.
