Why is it Closed?

What a great get-a-way! Very rustic, enjoyable beach, fantastic owners. Glad to be able to take a dog. Great place to sit and watch whales, and fisherman and seals. Sure wish the campground was still open though. there always has to be one jerk that ruins it for everyone else! They need more cabins.....

My Favorite family Tradition
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/22/10
Me and my family rent 2 to 3 cabins every year for Thanksgiving and have an absolute blast. We love the rustic feel, always bring our two dogs, deep fry turkey and tap the Keg. If I was going somewhere in the summer for a nice beach to hang out on this would not be my first pick , however going in the cooler weather with every one to hang out is a lot of fun. This place has tons of character and we will continue our tradition as long as possible.

Nothing like it anywhere!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/29/10
For the people that say they would stay eleswhere....good! That leaves for vacnacies for the people who love this place. I grew up in Joyce and took every bit of it for granted....the straits, lake cresecent, sutherland...spoiled I guess...lots of country and nature in my youth...but now I have taken my husband and kids there for the past 13 years...it is our favorite vacation spot along with Disneyland. The memories we have there will last a life time. To have my kids fish in the pond that I did way back when is amazing! You definately see God's glory at this place! I am so thankful to Joe for keeping it open all these years and letting us city slickers come back to our roots! I recommend this place every chance I get........

Great romantic getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/26/10
I just can't believe earlier comments. It is not over priced and a great deal all around. A wonderful rocky beach that seems to go on forever. I love collecting rocks here. All kinds. The rustic cabins are wonderful and the glow of the fire makes for a fanatasic romantic evening. It is wonderful for dogs and the place is very dog friendly. I really hated giving this such a great review, because I dont' want it to get over crowded. But like others have said, if you have to have electricity and technology then stay at a holiday inn and leave this great rustic spot to us.

Good Place, Except for the Rodent Problem!
By Russ, 12/18/09
When they say a cabin sleeps four, that doesn't include the uninvited guests. Some people may not mind the all night scampering of mice or rats throughout their cabins, But I'm not one of them. Incredibly, management's response to my complaints went unanswered. I've had this problem on multiple trips to the cabins down on the water. I'm too worried about disease to ever come back.

Family Tradition
By derek, 6/15/09
I'm not much for camping, nor did I do anything like this as a kid, but my husband's mother has been camping at Whiskey Creek Beach for over 50 years! And her father did it before her and still does it to this day. So my husband, the kids and I have kept the tradition going. We love the tranquility, the ocean within feet of the cabins and the fact that the whole family has a wonderful, beach combing and bbq'ing. This is the only vacation were we can take our dogs and they absolutely love it also. I always thought that my husband and I couldn't be away from technology, but this is really an escape and is quite pleasant without TV, cell phones, and computers.

They got it right "Can't wait to go back"
By Marty, 6/10/09
Beauty of a place. I was at Mary & Ken's daughter's wedding and it was a beautiful day. The cabins are very cool, and while expesive to some people, for a waterfront with a fireplace, you can pay a lot more. The bad: the once great Joyce Family Restaurant is absolutely TERRIBLE!!! God, do I miss the original Logger Burger!!

We'll be back! Great place for a wedding!
By Mary, 7/19/08
We had our daughters wedding there 2 weeks ago. The whole weekend was great! Weather was in the 70's and 80's, sunny, with a light breeze. We rented cabins to stay overnight, and I didn't hear any complaints from anyone. We had 4 rutstic cabins with gas lights and a wood stove for hot water. We didn't use the stove. Each cabin has a fire pit outside and wood provided. We went to sleep hearing the waves crashing, and woke to a glorious sunrise... Joe and Ronee were excellent hosts and Shannon was very helpful also. I would recommend this place to everyone

Rip off!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/28/07
The view is fantastic. The beach is rocky. The cabins are rustic and way over priced $88-$99. I recommend packing a picnic and spending the day at this beach and staying elsewhere.

Rustic but OK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/29/07
NIce enough place really nice people but pretty wild beach no sand. OK. A bit hard to find so guess that means not a lot of drive by visitors. Can cook on the wood stove and seem to remember gas burner. Like said here, pretty rustic. I slept outside on the deck area.
