My family has been going to Kawishiwi since our daughter was (she is now 35). Because the children were young, we began staying in the cabins and taking day-trips out on the lakes. When they got older, we stayed in the Bunkhouse the night before setting out early the next morning using equipment we rented from the lodge. We went out into the wildernes for a week at a time. My husband and I returned last year to make sure it was as we remembered and it was. Next year is our 40th wedding anniversary and we asked the three kids, now with spouces and children of their own, if they would want to celebrate with us by having the entire family return to Kawishiwi. Not only did they heartily agree, but their families did too. One daughter-in-law said she had heard so much about the wonderful times in the Boundary Waters and Kawishiwi Lodge from our son that she was really excited to go.
The service at the lodge, the beauty of the area, the wonderful fishing and privacy afforded our family both at Kawishiwi and out on the lakes are what has been bringing us back time-after-time.
Kawishiwi lodge has a great history of service, My Parents had good things to say about the lodge in the sixties when they stayed there to head out to Lake Alice. I'm in my forties caring on the family tradition to Alice and still find the service at kawishiwi excellent. I highly recomend you give them a try. My wife and I thank you Frank and you family for a great stay and service on our honeymoon. Our trip was great even in the rain. see you this summer !!!

Kawishiwi Lodge is located at the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. We stayed in one of their bunkhouses before setting out on our trip. It was a great deal at $20 a piece and included a bathroom and a kitchen area. The setting is beautiful and I found the staff to be easy-going and helpful. I definately want to go back again.
