Windigo Lodge, Grand Marais

Service was terrible during the height of the busy season! The restaurant ran out milk, salad was brown and limp, food was cold – would not recommend eating in the restaurant! Our toilet clogged in the cabin, and staff could not find a plunger on the property. Can not recommend – not worth the drive.

This used to be THE place to go in the 80's. Was there recently, and the burgers and fried were great. The atmosphere is HORRIBLE and chintzy and not lodge-like. It used to be this "up north" lodge with logs/pine everywhere and now it's like a cheap dive in any town. The view is still obviously spectacular and the outside looks nice, but fix the inside and if you're going to serve WALLEYE fingers in the Canadian/Minnesota area, they should be walleye, not some fish paste with crumbs. Chips & salsa=heated store-bought chips with Pace? YUCK! I missed and felt sad to miss the Windigo that Vince & Char used to run in 1987! God rest his soul.
