August 10th - 11th. We stayed at Carlin Bay. Rented three cabins across the street from the resort owned by Carlin Bay. We made reservations six months in advance. We wanted the handicapped cabin because my girlfriend has a bad leg and needed extra facilities that a handicap room provides. We were told at the time that the handicap cabin was already taken so we rented one of the other cabins. When we arrived on the 10th we noticed that the handicap cabin was being occupied by the staff that worked in the resort and none of them were handicapped. What kind of business puts their staff first before a person who needs handicap facilities? We have been going to Carlin Bay for a number of years but this is the first year we have been there with new management. I bought a $21.00 drink and was sitting on their deck and was told after I was drinking that I had a 30 minute time limit unless I ordered food. Yet, when I sat inside they did not care how long you sat inside drinking and you did not have to order food. This resort has gone downhill with the new management. The cabins are okay but they no longer have doors on the bathrooms. They no longer have coffee makers and the place doesn't open until 11:00 in the morning so there is no breakfast or coffee. You can't barbecue because they do not allow it. So in my opinion, drive the extra 9 miles south and stay in Harrison and have a good time at the Gateway with the previous owners of Carlin Bay, Fred & Carol.
Ilona's got to go! Ilona's got to go! Ilona's got to go! Ive been going there for years and wont be back until the current management/owners (whatever they like to call themselves) are gone! Good way to ruin one of the last fun spots on the lake!!!

My friends and I have been going to Carlin Bay for years; the new management is seriously lacking in customer service. The last 3 times we were there we waited for over 30 minutes for service. They have 1 bartender working who they expect to take care of the deck AND the bar, guess who loses!!! Not sure what the owner was thinking but this place has gone from a 10 to a NEGATIVE 100! Time to wake up and smell the coffee people, all the $$$ going into the remodel might as well be flushed down the toilet, thats what the service has become.... and the food prices are outrageous! Sad really, this WAS the only FUN place left on the lake.....
The salmonburger sandwich was ok, but not worth $14.95. Ask for a menu - don't let them tell you what's on the menu - they always recommend the salmonburger (no wonder - the price is a ripoff). Served on a hamburger bun with two pickles, onions, a slice of tomato and a piece of lettuce. You get a small amount of waffle fries with it all for the amazing price of $14.95. Eddie's at Arrowpoint serves much better food and the prices are a lot less. The atmosphere at Eddie's is 100% better. Carlin is in the middle of a remodel, but the place is dark and very dated and small - no deck currently to enjoy the weather. Figured at the most the salmonburger would be maybe $8.95.
