Farm Island Lake Resort & Camp, Aitkin

I'm truly amazed that people actually return to this place. The owners are a pair of curmudgeons who don't seem to have a clue about how to serve the public. Furthermore, the bathrooms are the filthiest we have ever seen. They are unsanitary, to say the least. But the odd thing is that the owners have posted insults and rules all over the bathroom walls about clients' responsiblities ( I'm not your mother. Clean up after yourself!, etc.). Clearly these people have no idea about their own responibilities. Their fees are high plus they charge an extra $10 dumping fee. We wouldn't have given them an extra $10 if our lives had depended on it, not after having been dumped on verbally during our stay. The cottages were all empty and this was high tourist season. No wonder! Too bad about the owners. They need either a reality check from the state tourism office or they need to retire. The tourism office needs to check sanitary conditions as well as the safety of the small docks. Not to mention the "hospitality" issue. They do not deserve a 2.5 star rating.

i had reservations i called and talked to a elderly women i asked her if i could ask some questions she said ok i asked 2 questions when i asked the third she blew up and said dont you have a brochure i can easily take you off the books and hung up on me, three days later my wife got sick and had to go to the hospital so we had cancell are plans i called up ther just to be couretous she took my name and said we took you off the books dont you remember and hung up on me again she is by far the rudest person i have met and she has no clue on running a buisness i will never go there and its probaly best you dont either- mark lemke

Spent a weekend there this summer looking for a seasonal spot. I was never yelled at so many times. All kinds of rules, docks are unsafe. Nice lake but look for different location

Spent a weekend there and owners are very unpleasant, the docks are very unstable, I would have to say the lake is great and the fishing is good too! The lake is excellent, but find another Resort.
