Verna Lake Resort, Woodruff

Very Peaceful & Relaxing!!!! Lots of wildlife viewing, even more than at the nearby state park! Deer, Bear, Birds: Bald Eagle, Loon, Sand-hill Cranes, Wild Turkey, and Boreal Chickadee (rare in WI). Lots of stuff to do nearby in St. Germain, Eagle River, Minocqua, and NH-AL State Forest. Free Water Ski Shows in Plum Lake, and Minocqua.

I stay at Verna Lake Resort every summer and always have a great time. The cabins are clean and comfortable and fit a large family very well. The owners (Dan and Trudi) are friendly and knowledgable about the area and are around to assist you with any needs that may come up. The lake is small but you're still able to catch plenty of bass, northern and panfish. This place is great if you're looking for that peaceful getaway with family and friends at a good price. Also, it's a couple minutes drive to Woodruff and Minocqua so you can easily head into town. I can't wait to go back this summer!

My last, and I mean my last visit to Vernona Lake Resort was the worst experience that I have had on any trip I have ever taken. I had gone to Vernona for many years. This particular year I reserved my regular cabin and upon my arrival I was told that I had to occupy another smaller cabin. I accepted that but the final blow came the last day. I was packing up within time requirements and the owner barged into the cabin and told me to get out. Perhaps after all of the years that I spent there he felt it was okay to speak to me in that way. But it was not okay. I will never return and will not recommend this resort.
