Shady Rest Resort & Campground, Villard

We have been coming to Shady Rest off and on for the past 10 years. We tried a few other resorts but liked this resort the best. The resort is spread out so we never felt like others were on top of us. The cabins are larger then at most resorts and they are always updated. They have always been very clean. They each have their own fire pit,(a must!), a large deck and are located right by the water. We've stayed in cabin 5 and 6 before, but last year we stayed in cabin 3. The lake is very clean, the kids loved the in water slide. The girls at the office were very nice and helpfull. When a light burned out and when we had trouble with the microwave, service was there within minutes. The tennis courts were in rough shape but still playable. They were about to have them rebuilt. The resort was a little futher away from town then I liked but I got use to it. The resort looks like it should be a noisy place, but it really wasn't. I would have liked to see more organized kids activities, but then it was also nice to have the kids just to ourselves. Most people I talked to really liked staying there and most, like us, will be back.
